"Dead. Why did Trask have a file on me? Why am I filed dead" you yelled getting to your feet? "Y/n " Logan called out to you-you ignored him.
You grabbed Charles face and pulled him close to you, "goddammit Charles what are you not telling me" you had started to shake.
" they were the reason your brother is dead. The car accident was planned; they believed you were there not him. Stryker killed your brother y/n" Charles broke down completely.
___
Everything went mute. You could feel yourself sliding down, collapsing into someone's arms. You couldn't even stop the tears that trickled silently down your cheeks. You could only hear your heart ba-bum ba-bum. The room stopped spinning and now lay still, blurred, distorted faces burned your vision. You felt yourself break down and dissolve into the ground; huddled against Logan. You forced yourself to look up at Charles his blue eyes reflected your now bright golden ones.
Everything has changed.
Logan looked sceptical at Hank as you mourned for your brother in his arms.
"We should get a good night rest" Charles softly spoke as he wheeled over to Hank.
"No" you whispered. You felt completely numb, but you got to your feet shakily: Charles turned and started wheeling over to you, but Logan held his arm out to stop him - Charles shot him a confused look.
____
"I've have lost everyone I loved. I lost you, and I lost my parents years ago. I lost the one person I had left: I just found out that Trask murdered my brother!." You looked each of them in the eyes.
"Y/n killing Trask will not bring him back" Charles spoke his eyes sparked with concern
You smiled shakily while wiping the tears of, "no it won't but why should he get to live and my brother doesn't" you started heading for the door, but Logan grabbed you.
You ripped away from him summoning a mild blast, "I'm sorry, but it's the only way."
You heard them yelling your name, but you shrugged it off: Charles tried to prod in your mind, "get out of my head Charles. You don't have the right. Not anymore." You threw the blast on the ground with smoke erupting, and you ran.
____
You were boarding a flight to Washington DC: you had burgundy sunglasses to obscure your still faintly glowing eyes. The rage had subsided, and you felt very out of place - did you want to kill Trask?
The plane trembled with turbulence and your closed your eyes as you contemplated what to do. Killing Trask would give you a profound sense of righteous avenging your brother, but it would also be murder, and you fear what going down that path would do to you. You were almost sure that Charles and the others would be not far behind this flight: this gives you a time limit to find Trask before the presentation.
The plane landed smoothly and you departed with a purpose still in the midst of your mind you headed towards the unveiling.
___
It was an hour after your flight, and now you stood to amidst a crowd- near the front waiting to see Trask- you wanted it to be private. You understood that if it was a public murder, his death could spark the war. The crowd of spectators bustled around you as President Nixon made his speech in front of the podium. You scanned the stage for Trask and spotted him marvelling over his creation - scratch your plans you had him right in front of you and who knew if you would have another chance to avenge your brother. It was now or never.
____
Meanwhile, somewhere in the crowd Charles, Hank and Logan searched for Raven, and upon finding her, Charles was presumably persuading her. Hank reached to Charles for his attention as his arms flailed around pointing to you who had slyly sneaked your way onto the stage where you blended into the shadows below the podium - you hands glowed orange that illuminated the fierce, fiery look in your eyes. Suddenly the sentinels activated their mechanical body buzzed with energy as the rose into the air.
Trask argued with Major Stryker, and you dove for cover as bullets ran out across the field: people frantically ran for protection and security shield the president who shakily fled the stage.
___
You cowered under the battered stage as Erik descended from the sky donned in his red cape and helmet. The stadium came crashing down trapping everyone: you barely had time to shield your self from the debris that bombed you. After the initial crash, you found yourself in complete darkness. The silence was deafening almost as much as the darkness except for your powers radiating the golden hue as a shield barricaded you from further collapse. You quickly deducted that the stadium buried you and if not for your abilities for sure you would have been a pancake.
___
During the time you lay drifting in and out of conciseness under the rubble Hank, no Beast, alongside Logan battled Magneto and his sentinels. Charles was also somewhat stuck underneath a fallen metal structure; all thought he could still see the scene fold out in front of him. his gaze moved to see a scrappy sentinel hovering over the rubble from the side of the stadium. You had no clue what was happening above the ruins: you had no evidence that Logan was drowning anchored by rusted pipes, you have no idea that Hank saw Raven leave his grasp yet again or that Trask had left with his life.
