i might not be beautiful enough,
for your eyes to never stray.
but when it gets tough,
i'm here to stay.
these eyes don't allure you,
and that's okay.
these lips don't capture you,
with the words I long to say.
i'm afraid to whisper, "i love you",
for fear i'm forcing a reply.
you need not love me too,
i'll live for just, "hi".
you're missing out on flowers,
on all my hours.
from oceans to showers,
the beds we called ours.
where does this lead,
if our hearts aren't free?
i've fought not to bleed,
on those who didn't cut me.
let your feelings roam,
you're destined for more than me.
your arms were once home,
the safest place to be.

The Knight of Hearts
PoetryA collection of poems I wrote between the ages of 16 and 19, about an inescapable first love that burned like wildfire and cloud castles that crumbled into a kingdom of ruin. And from its ashes, the Knight of Hearts rode on. ©︎ 2016 Karran Kumar
