i miss reading his name,
and admiring his face.
is it out of fear or shame,
that i backspace?
it hurts to hold it in,
to hide the humiliating truth.
it feels like a sin,
as i grit each aching tooth.
but in the end,
this is the greatest of my fears;
if i hit send,
he'd see i've loved him for years.
it does not matter,
that our stars crossed before my first kiss.
let it tear and tatter,
my heart is his.

The Knight of Hearts
PoesiaA collection of poems I wrote between the ages of 16 and 19, about an inescapable first love that burned like wildfire and cloud castles that crumbled into a kingdom of ruin. And from its ashes, the Knight of Hearts rode on. ©︎ 2016 Karran Kumar
