THE ARRANGED LOVE

Chapter 2

KATE'S POV

Finally I am ready to leave for home. I can't wait to just climb on my bed and get some much needed sleep. But first up, dinner with family. As I reach home, I cannot help but feel strange all of a sudden. Or maybe I am too tired and its a way of my body telling me that I need to sleep. 

I am greeted at the door by my brother and the smell of delicious lasagna, my favourite. That just made me realise how hungry I actually was. Without wasting any time I washed my hands and sat down in the dining area. That's when dad comes in with a serious look. Damn I am overthinking again. 

Everyone sits down and we start having our dinner. "Kate, honey, how was work today?'' asked mum. "It was too hectic mum," "Couldn't wait to come back home," I replied. I asked dad what he wanted to talk about but he said he'll discuss it after dinner. Dinner was great as usual but there was this strange tension between mum and dad that I felt. I didn't say anything since I knew that if there was something that I needed to know then they will definitely tell me.

After dinner and the cleaning up, we all sat down in the living area to find out about what dad wants to talk about. "Kate, honey I know you had told us that you are not ready to settle down yet but...."  I cut dad off "But dad I don't to discuss about marriage yet. I am not ready." 

"Kate, please just hear me out." "You know I have never stopped you from doing anything. But you also need to understand that you are not getting any younger. When your mother was at your age she was already married and pregnant with you. I am not forcing you honey, but I am just telling you that maybe its time you start your own family. But not before marriage, or else I'll kill the guy." and dad started laughing at his ridiculous joke. Dad really has the worst sense of humour.

"Dad, mum, I know there is something else you want to say. I can totally read your faces right now. Come on out with it now." I could tell there was more to this. The next surprise was the least expect......

"Kate we know that you have never thought about all this yet and we know that you aren't seeing anyone at the moment.....ummmmm," "Mum, just say it please, you're scaring me now."

"Kate we arranged your marriage with my best friend's son," dad said.

That words were buzzing in my ear repeatedly.......What the hell just happened......Oh god an arranged marriage..............Please let this be a dream.......
