LIAM'S POV

I fell in love once with my best friend, Rachael. We used to study together in university. She was the typical nerd, sweet and innocent. It was love at first sight. We started off as friends and it turned into something more. What I loved about her the most was that she didn't care about my rich status. She loved me for who I was and she brought out the best in me. With her, life felt so complete. I had even introduced her to my family and they all loved her. She was the perfect girl for me, at least that's what I thought....

It was our graduation day and I couldn't have been any happier because I was planning to propose Rachael after the graduation. It was all planned out and I had my parents blessings. I couldn't wait to marry her. I was so excited. After the graduation we had a party at one of my best friend's house. I couldn't miss that even though I wanted to, and since Rachael was insisting on going, I couldn't say no to her. So putting the proposal for a small pause we went to Zac's party.

The party was on full swing. Rachael went to her friends to have a chat while I stayed with my buddies for some drinks. I just had a few glasses of beer since I wanted to stay sober for the proposal. "So Liam, what's your plan after the party? Wanna hang out with us?" "We are going clubbing after," my friend Leo said. " Nah buddy, I'll pass this one. I have planned something for Rachael tonight." I said with a bright smile lighting up my face. I bet I was blushing even. "Bro your so whipped." my friends said, breaking into a hideous laughter.

After a few more drinks and chat I decided it was time to go home. I went to look for Rachael but she was nowhere to be found. I asked her friends and they said they saw her going upstairs. Maybe she went to the washroom. I went upstairs and checked all the washrooms but she wasn't there. Where did she go? I hope she was alright. I started checking the rooms as well just in case. I was starting to get worried. Her phone was with me so no use calling her. At last I reached Zac's room. I doubt she'll be here but I just wanted to ask Zac if he had seen Rachael.

When I opened the door, I got the biggest shock of my life. I stood frozen at the door watching my girlfriend fucking my best friend. The betrayal I felt at that moment shattered me completely.  Both the culprit turned around to see what had disturbed their precious moment, however they got shocked at getting caught. Rachael covered herself up and tried to give an explanation but I was done with her.

"Why Rachael, why?" "Why would you do this to me, and that too with the guy that I trusted the most," by then I was in tears. I couldn't stop myself. I felt numb. "Liam, I am so....." she tried to apologise. "Oh please! Don't you dare say you're sorry Rachael. Your sorry will never justify what you were just doing with my best friend in his bed, naked." I shouted at her. "Hey man, it was a foolish mistake." As soon as those words came out of Zac's mouth I punched him in the face.

"Mistake. A bloody mistake. Now that's what you'll call fucking my girlfriend." "You were my best friend Zac, how could you betray me like that." "I treated you like my brother and you and the love of my life betrayed me like this." I spat. Rachael tried to come near me but I pushed her away. "Don't you dare put your filthy hands on me. I can't believe I fell for a bitch like you. I was so blinded by your innocence. Who knows how many fucking times you have cheated on me." She tried to say something but I didn't let her complete.

"Just shut the fuck up Rachael. I am done with you and my so called best friend." I threw Rachael's phone on the floor. I wiped my tears and turned around to leave "Don't you ever show me your faces again or else I'll forget that I once cared about you guys. Our friendship is over and so is our relationship. You guys can go to hell." with that I left the house without turning back.

That was the part of my life that has made me the person I am now. I can't trust people now because of the betrayal in my past. I have learnt a lot from it. This world is only for the people who are strong and independent. There's no place for ones who are vulnerable and emotional fools.

That was my past. However, my future is at stake right now. I know that whatever dad says, he does it, and I am not going to risk my company by letting my ego get in the way. That's it! I have made a decision. I am going to meet this girl, Kate. I am really curious about what dad saw in her that he is ready to risk everything just for us to be married.
