Chapter 55: 'She Doesn't Love You'

Ace*

"Morning mom." I kissed her cheek while heading into the kitchen to have breakfast.

"Morning Macenth." She peered over her glasses at me with a smile.

"Please mom, it's just Ace." I sat down beside her.

"Sure honey." She went back to reading the newspaper in her hand.

I took out my phone and checked for anything new.

Noah💩: dude how much for your lambo?
____
Hayley😈: morning acey-poo
____
Avengers🖖: assemble @ school lol
____
Dean🥃: oh there was homework??

Still no reply from Luna, I can tell she got the message but just left me on read.

🔥: Hey, can we talk please?

"Macenth- Ace, no phones at the table," she warned me but changed her expression when she saw my face, "What's wrong?"

"I've been pied." I muttered.

My mother's expression changed from concerned to horrified in a matter of second, "Excuse me?"

A small smile appeared on my face, "Someone's ignoring me."

"How does that have to do with pie?" She tilted her head in confusion.

"It's nothing, don't worry."

She shook her head, "Obviously something isn't right...is it Luna? Is she pregnant?"

"What?" I exclaimed, "No! No No, 100 times No!"

"I know Ace, I just wanted to see your reaction." My mom chuckled, "But seriously...this girl is effecting you in some way."

"I guess you could say that."

"Do you want to talk about it?" She folded the newspaper in half and placed it on the table.

"Would 'no' be an okay answer?" I finished my breakfast.

"It can be whatever you want it to be sweetheart," My mom gave me her trademark warm smile, "I have an idea to get your mind off the pretty little lady."

"What is it?"

"Shopping for the Westside Beauty Paegent!" She clapped her hands together.

"You do realise that I asked the 'pretty little lady' to that Paegent."

"Then think of this as Mother and Son bonding time? Then we can go to Isaac's ice cream parlour, the one you always loved as a kid."

"Sure mom." I laughed.

Let's hope I can last a day without her.

Luna's POV

I didn't get to say a word to Ace the whole morning or lunch.

He didn't even come to pick me up in the morning like he usually did so I ended up late to school anyway.

Apparently he got his morning periods off to have early morning football practice for the next big game next week, just like the rest of the football team. When lunch came around, the guys told me 'he went to the school gym because he said needed to get into shape' while giving me sympathetic looks.

"Where's your man candy Lunatic?" Hayley sneered as she strutted past our table, "Hope he isn't being assassinated right now."

"Burn in hell, Satan." I gave her the middle finger while Noah stood up and went to the gym 'just to be safe'.
