The Engagment

Today was the day.

Not the big day but the engagement party.

It still was a huge deal because I never thought the day would come where I would get engaged. I was happy but also kind of upset because it wasn't happening out of love but mainly because me and Shawn are both forced to.

My dress was hung up ready for me to wear when it's time. Then Leanne came just after breakfast to do my hair and my makeup. We spoke to each other for a bit while she did a soft makeup look and braiding my hair and putting up leaving a few strands out.

Once that was done it was time to slip into my dress which was beautiful I have never anything this extravagant and I couldn't wait to wear.

My mom, Ana and Autumn walk into my room wearing white to match the white and pink theme we were going for. My sisters wearing white dresses with gold and my mom wearing a plain white dress and some gold jewellery. Also Emily came in wearing a long simple grey dress with gold necklace.

"You look beautiful Serenity" my mom says trying to hold her tears back.

"You look hot" Ana yells.

"You are so stunning" Autumn adds.

"My Best friend looks so sexy" Emily says

"Thanks guys now let me get into my dress" I say as Leanne has it ready for me to step into.

Once I step into it I pull it up and Leanne held it together to zip it up. Then I put my diamond necklace on, heels and sprayed some perfume.

Before we left the house we got Leanne to take pictures of my family all together on my phone. We pulled up at the venue which was decorated all white and elegant. As we walked in Karen came rushing to us and pulled me in for a hug.

"You look so beautiful" she says and I smiled.

"Thank you, so do you" I reply and she chuckles.

"Well I'll take Serenity over to Shawn and then get the ring ceremony done, the couples dance then serve the dinner" Karen says and my parents nod.

My mom kisses my cheek and my dad kisses my forehead. I hug both my sisters and kiss my little brother's cheek before Karen takes my hand leading me to the table where Shawn and his friends I'm assuming are sitting on a table.

He stands up dressed in a navy blue suit, with his curls perfectly pushed together. He look so handsome, I realised I was staring too long before I turn my face away. Karen leads us to the middle of the room and gathers everyone's attention.

"We are now going to do the ring exchange before the couples dance" she says and everyone claps.

Aaliyah hands Shawn my ring before he takes my small hand into his large one. He slides the ring onto my finger and then Autumn passed me his ring and I slide it on to his finger. Everyone cheers and applause and I smile at everyone. Also Cameras clicked and flashed at us.

The music started and Shawn put his hands on my waist and I put my arms around his neck and we swayed. It was quiet just the music playing in the background, I also stepped on his foot twice which made him mad and roll his eyes.

Then others started joining us by dancing around us. It was really nerve-wrecking. My eyes locked with Shawn's our gaze not leaving each other's, then I studied his face and how perfect his jawline was and how beautiful his eyes were. I snapped out of my thoughts when the music stopped and everyone started sitting down.

Karen made me sit with Shawn but it wasn't so bad as Aaliyah, Ana, Emily and Autumn joined my table.
I sat next to Shawn and on my right was Emily and on his left was one of his friends. There was chatter as food was served but I remained quiet and so was Shawn. We ate quietly as everyone else on our table spoke amongst themselves.

Emily nudged my arm and I turned to her, "why don't you speak to him" she asks and I shrug.

"You both look so cute together accept you're not acting like you are a couple" she chuckles and shake my head. 

"I can't wait for the wedding now" she squeals and I roll my eyes.

Then someone taps my shoulder and I turn to face Shawn, "my mom wants us to take pictures" he says and I nod shyly.

He stands up and then I stand up walking in front of him and because my dress was pretty long he stepped on it making me almost fall but he caught my forearm steadying me back up and I blush and look at the floor. Then I hear whistling coming from behind and I turn and glare at Emily as they all burst into laughter.

We took a few pictures and family pictures before it was time to leave. Oliver had fallen asleep so my dad carried him to the car and staying with him till we said goodbye to everyone.

I hugged Karen and Aaliyah then shook Manny's hand. My mom and Karen spoke for a few minutes and Shawn stood next to Karen emotionless just waiting for it all to be over. Emily nudges my arm as I realised I was staring at him and I quickly looked at the floor.

"We shall see you for lunch tomorrow then" my mom says and Karen nods.

As I got home I took everything off before jumping into the shower and once I was out I changed into my pjs. I walked into the living room where my parents and my sisters were. I squeezed myself in between My mom and Autumn resting my bead on my mom's shoulder.

"I'm so proud of you Serenity you handled that good" my dad says and I smile at him.

"We're meeting them for lunch tomorrow" my mom says and I nod with my eyes still glued to the tv where my dad was watching the hockey game.

Then my phone buzzed.

From: Shawn
Lunch tomorrow 1pm at the cafe royalè. Tell your parents.

To: Shawn
See you tomorrow :)

Why did I send a smiley? I mentally face palm
myself.

"Who's texting you?" Ana smirks and I roll my eyes at her.

"It was Shawn informing me about lunch tomorrow which is at cafe royalè" I say and she nodded.

After watching the hockey game I came in to my room and collapsed into my bed. But before I went to sleep I quickly went over to my closet pulling out my glass jewellery box my grandma gave me. I smile as I took a picture of us out and brushes my fingers over it.

I prayed my grandma was watching over me today and I wondered how proud she would be of me if she saw me today...
