"Okay Sleeping Beauty I will-" I sniffled slightly.
"Bye," she said.
"Byee night gurl" She hung up and I threw my phone at my door. I changed into my own pajamas and put Keira's in a bag so I wouldn't forget them.
I crawled out the window onto my balcony and just sat there in thought. I looked up at the sky and an idea plooped into my head. I jumped up and hopped back into my room. I grabbed my pink suitcase and threw my clothes into it. I put in my accessories, hair products, brush, and a tooth brush. I placed my suitcase under my bed incase my mom came in. I tore a piece of paper from my notebook and wrote.
Dear mom,
By the time you read this, I will be on a train to Yonkers making my way to my dad's apartment. He would probably understand me more, considering you made out with a shirtless man! I will come back soon, but for now, I just need space. I need to clear my head for a bit, you know? Don't be worried, I will text you when I reach my destination. Until then, know I love you, and don't take this to heart,
Love Always,
Kendall xoxo
I climbed back down to Keira's and left the bag of clothes on her windowsill. I went back into my apartment and quickly changed into a black crop top and high waisted jeans. I slipped on my floral Doc Martens and grabbed my suitcase from under my bed, leaving the note on my pillow for my mom to see.
I climbed out, once again, closing my window behind me and climbed down all the steps. I finally made it to the concrete sidewalk, realizing how dark it actually was. I ran for awhile dragging my suitcase behind me, until I finally reached Times Square. I was trying to avoid hobos and perverts all the way. After I reached Times Square I took it down a notch and just strolled to Grand Central Station. I took the route to Yonkers, which when timed, usually took about 32 minutes. I got on the train, keeping my suitcase right at my feet. The train is really slow, considering the whole time the passengers were giving me strange looks because I was young. I pulled my hair into a pony tail after a while because it was unbearably hot.
The train finally came to my stop. How do I know? It was hard to miss by the screeching loud speakers with the conductor saying, "Yonkers!" about 4 times. I grabbed my suitcase and walked off the train I sat on one of the benches for a moment to look up bus routes. I didn't want to be shoved onto the tracks, that's why I sat. The next bus to 294, Bronxville Road came right as I looked up. I got onto the bus and took a seat towards the middle. I sat there for awhile, my phone buzzing with messages from my mom, saying I was in so much trouble. I replied back finally, not wanting her to worry.
'Mom, I'm almost at dad's house. I'm on the bus my stop is next. Love You, call you when I get into his house.
"294 Bronxville Road, next stop!" I looked up from my phone and nodded at the driver.
Two minutes later, "294 Bronxville." I got up and grabbed onto my suitcase, trying not to hit people leaning in the aisles. I missed a step coming off the bus, it gave me a mini heart attack.
I looked around as the bus left. I knew this place by heart. Ever since my mom and dad broke up 8 years ago, I've been coming here to see my dad. And yes, that means my sister is from another man.
I walked up to the front entrance, and walked right to the stairs. The apartment was older, it didn't have an elevator which made it fun. I picked up my suitcase and ran up the echoing stairs til I reached the 5th floor. I opened the door that led to the hallway and walked, quietly to 5D. I knocked on the door, it took a few times. I finally heard the locks being undone and there, in front of me was my dad in his boxers. I stood there a little embarrassed.
"Kendall? W-what are you doing here at three in the morning?" He yawned at the end.
"I came here to stay a while. I needed to clear my head from the image of mom kissing a shirtless man on my couch."
"Not ready for it yet?" He asked running his hand through his bed-head hair.
I shook my head, "Alright, you know which room's yours." He went inside and walked to his room, while I walked to mine.
I opened my door, walked in and closed it behind me. I placed my suitcase beside my bed, kicked off my boots, and grabbed my phone.
I dialed my mom's phone number, she answered. "Kendall! Why did you leave?" I could tell she had been crying a bit.
"Did you read the note?"
"Yes, but what about your competition next week?"
"I said I'll be back soon. Don't worry mom I'm here and I'm really tired. So, goodnight mommy, love you."
"Night, Kendall. Love you." she hung up.
