"So this is the new Makeup artist?" A man with a fluffy pony tail came up to me, half approaching me, half approaching my friend, and his friend, Oak. We had been talking for a little while, his elbow rested on the top of my head as he talked about his day and I smiled along.
"Yup! This is our new little friend, here to stab our eyes with a black pen thingy!" The men smiled and lightly laughed, while I looked down at my feet.
"Oh, are they shy? Well hello, Shy Child, I'm Daveed!" He smiled and bent down to my height. I glared at him, but I knew it probably looked nothing like a glare, maybe a soft angry smile. "Angry Shy Child."
"Little Y/n here doesn't talk much," Oak paused for a moment, "or at all really."
"Y/n is a cute name." Daveed straightened up to his normal height, somehow towering over me despite being shorter than Oak, who was like a literal oak tree.
This is literally so unfair why the heck is everyone so tall can I quit already?
"Ayo, Earth to Y/n." A large hand was snapping in my face, forcing me to focus back on the conversation. I looked up at Oak who was looking down at me, while Daveed looked at both of us, creating a huge mess of confusion. "Lin is trying to give us direction, but someoooone stopped paying attention and missed the whole thing."
I scoffed and moved my head from under his elbow. "That wasn't very nice, Y/n."
Who ever said I was nice.
---
Daveed jerked his head away from my eye liner pencil, causing me to make a light black line across his left cheek. I sighed loudly, and reached over to grab a makeup wipe.
"I'm sorry, it just tickles," He tried to apologize, while still smiling so it really wasn't very effective. I just lightly smiled and nodded my head softly, trying my best to show forgiveness as I smeared away the black line.
After I fixed the mark, I put my hand on his shoulder and started back on the eye I messed up, trying much more carefully to make sure that he doesn't move at all this time.
I pointed my finger up, my best attempt to tell him to look up. He clearly didn't get it. "You want me to get up?"
I shook my head no.
"Sit up?"
No you idiot, if you sit up, you'll be too tall. I shook my head no.
"...Look up?"
I nodded my head yes and smiled. I carefully put on his eye liner on the bottom lid, letting him move away from my pencil like normal. He had a habit of getting super watery eyes mid way through, apparently. I found it funny.
After I finished making his hair bun neater than he could make it himself, I let him go. He didn't understand me waving him through the door a bit, so we did have to play a bit of a guessing game again.
-------
"Can I go noooowww?" Daveed whined. I glared at the mirror from my spot behind him. He had recently cut his hair, and apparently most of it was now too short to be put in his bun. Only about half of it could fit now, the front bit still came and poofed out. I spent a few minutes trying to calm it down, but with all his complaining, I just got tired and grabbed the bottle of gel.
"Please no, Y/n. Not the gel, please..." He looked up at me with his best puppy eyes. He started doing this a lot, much to my dismay. My small crush on him started to grow with every moment we spent together, which was between 20 minutes and 2 hours everyday. We lived close enough together that he would walk home with me some days.
I just shook my head and put some of the gel in my hand. He sighed and let me run my hands through his hair, effectively slicking down the puffy part. I smiled at him and did my little hand wave, telling him he was free to go.
-------
"Does it feel like its starting to rain to you?" Daveed looked up at the gray sky, then down at me. I reached out my hand, paused for a moment, and then nodded. Its sprinkling a little. I think its supposed to thunderstorm later...
We turned down my block, then turned into my apartment block. The door hadn't even been closed for a few seconds before a huge lightning strike hit, moments later the thunder boomed.
I looked up at Daveed, my eye brows raised.
"Am I allowed to stay till this is over? Kinda don't want to walk home in this." He said to me, already walking over to the elevator. I smiled and followed him over, hitting the up button.
-------
"Did the power just go out?"
No, Daveed, everyone on the entire block just turned off every electronic device they have.
I sighed, something I seem to do a lot these days, and got up. I could feel Daveed's eyes watching me as I disappeared down the hall. I returned a few minutes later with a pile of Pjs and a few candles. Like the nice host I was, I throw the clothes at his face.
"Can I put these on?" I just gave him a look of 'really?' and he got up to go put them on. He had been in my house enough that he knew what the layout was, but I could hear him struggling in the dark.
While he was fumbling around in my bathroom, I started to light my candles. I only had a few big ones, and the rest of them were tiny tea-candles that wouldn't last too long. But a little light was better than nothing.
Now, normally I had my candles high up, but now they sat every where, like the coffee table.
My cat was very interesting in these candles.
My rescue cat, who had abandoned, was very interested in these little balls of light, that sat right in front of her face on many different surfaces.
I had to physically pull her off the table, much to her dismay, and lock her in my bedroom. When I was done putting her in jail for the night, I accidentally ran into Daveed. Like actually ran into his back. His bare back, as he had no shirt on.
He spun around to face me, and smiled down at me, "shirt was too small, dear."
I blushed, looking down at my feet, glad for the darkness of the hall way.
"If I were to want a new one, were would I find it? Not that I do, I enjoy seeing your embarrassed face." He smirked and placed his finger under my chin, gently lifting it up to look at him. "I think what we both want is to go cuddle in you're bed, candles lit, and soft music, yeah?"
I turned my face away from him again, and lightly nodded my head. He lower his hand, instead he now help mine in his, and lead me into my bedroom, where he waited for me to take off my jeans so I would just sleep in my shirt.
I was the first to get under the covers and lay down, him soon joining next to me. He pulled me close to him warm chest, which I now used as a pillow.
My cat jumped up onto the bed and curled at my legs, softly purring. It was cute, the whole situation.
I liked this. I liked him. He liked me. All was good.
