Ponyboy's POV
Her soft lips left as quickly as they came. She ran back into her house, and left me there, wanting more. I stood there for a second, cherishing the moment, and walked back to the car. "It could get dangerous!" Soda mocked, starting up the car. He recklessly sped down the street to our house. I kept quiet, keeping the memory to me and only me. When we emerged through the door again, all eyes were on me.
"Soo.. Celeste?" Two-Bit smirked, raising his eyebrows at me.
"What about her?" I answered defensively.
"Oh nothin' nothin'." He smiled goofily.
I scowled at him as I walked to the room I shared with Sodapop. I changed into some sweatpants and an old black shirt, walking back into the kitchen for some water. Dallas was in there too.
"That Celeste girl sure is something, boy what I'd do to have her." He teased, placing a cig in between his teeth.
"Go outside to smoke that." I warned, dodging his remark.
"Maybe I'll go after her." He mused. "Doesn't look like anyone in the gang is that interested in her, right Pony?" He smiled deviously.
I tensed at his statement. My eyes darted over to see him analyzing me.
"I like her." I stated uneasily.
"Steve you owe me a $5!" Dallas yelled, walking into the main room.
"Wait, what?!" I followed after him. "Why does he owe you a $5?" I asked.
"Well, because you admitted you liked Celeste." Dallas answered, as if it was the simplest thing.
"You guys bet on me?" I prodded, confused.
"Calm down, the only loser here is Steve. Besides, she likes you back, ya know." Dal shrugged, lighting his cancer stick.
"Outside." Darry warned, emerging from around the corner. Dal rolled his eyes and walked outside.
I smiled to myself. "You really think she likes me?" I asked Johnny, as I plopped down next to him.
"I dunno, she sure seems fond of ya, though." He replied.
My smile grew wider, as I thought of a girl like Celeste liking me. She was even better than Cherry Valance!
"Hello, earth to Pony?" A hand waved in front of my eyes. "Helloooo?" I blinked and looked at the face in front of me.
"I'm awake, Soda." I answered, slapping his hand away from me.
"Well, go to bed, kiddo. It's late."
I nodded and rolled into bed, the thought of Celeste occupying my head.
Regular POV
Sunday morning, I got up and smiled to myself. I had one of the most memorable days with Ponyboy yesterday. I really wanted to see him more. I pulled my hair into a high ponytail (haha PONYtail) and applied light makeup.
"Where are you off to?" My mom asked me as I reached the kitchen.
"Nowhere in particular.." I answered aimlessly, picking up a lollipop from the counter.
"Well, do you know in particular when you'll be home?"
I rolled my eyes and popped the sucker in my mouth. "By two, probably."
I walked out of the kitchen, and I felt her footsteps behind me.
"Celeste, I'm glad you've made new friends, but spend some time with us once and a while." She laughed.
