Finny was sitting very awkwardly in the house library as I climbed the ladder and skimmed through the shelves for that one book.
"Ms.Y/N, I don't think this is a very good idea. What if Mr.Sebastian catches us not working and we get in trouble?" Finny said, looking around quite paranoid.
I found what I was looking for and jumped from the ladder. I ignored Finny's question for a moment as I flipped through the pages. Once I found it, I shoved the book into his hands.
"Finny, Meyrin is no doubt the clumsiest maid in history. I don't mean that to be mean., but it is true. now clumsy Rinny makes Mr.Sebastian angry, but what if we could change that?" I gestured to the page the book was open. "If I could change that, then Meyrin would no longer be clumsy and if she is no longer clumsy then no more messes! If there are no more messes then that means no more angry Sebastian. Do you see what I'm getting at?" I whispered excitedly.
Finny skimmed over the page with his eyes but his brows furrowed in confusion.
"I understand but Ms.Y/N, how can this help us?"
"Well you see, in 1508, Leonardo Da Vinci illustrated a contraption that goes directly into the eyes of the user so as to rid the use of glasses." I explained while pointing at the different drawings and words. "The only problem is that he never finished it and they are to aid in seeing just as glasses are except without a frame. I need a contraption just as this but without the seeing concept as Meyrin doesn't need it. I need to be able to change the color of her eyes without it being permanent."
"So you think you can get it done? That it will make Meyrin happy?" Finny asked astonished.
I smirked slightly as I replied. "I know it will, Finny."
"Then what do you need me for?"
"I need you to help get material and I need a test subject. that is, if you are willing to be?"
"I will! Anything for Meyrin!" Finny shouted confidently.
I giggled at his enthusiasm but shushed him nonetheless. We don't need Sebastian to ruin our plan. Father says he always gets in the way so I intend to keep him out of this. We spent the rest of the day getting different materials and bringing them to the garden house where we can work in peace. I started with a draft then began to model out of glass. If I could get it thin enough and round the edges, maybe glass could work without being painful. so I began my work with the glass the rest of the afternoon and into the night. It wasn't until the next morning at around 4:15AM when I was satisfied with the end result. I rushed to Finny's room and knocked on the door hurridly. I had to be dressed and ready to work before 5:30 hit so I needed to test it, now. Finny opened the door groggily and his eyes widened when he saw me.
"Ms.Y/N? what are you doing down here?"
"I've done it, Finny! I've finished the first prototype and I need you to try them on. I used the measurements on your eyes that we took yesterday so they should be an easy fit. Go on, I don't have much time!" I shoved the lenses case into his hands quickly.
Finny opened the small square box containing the said items and gave me a weary look.
"Just take them out of the sterilized water and put them into your eyes, carefully though!" I instructed in a whisper as to not wake Bardroy.
finny stepped out of the room and into the hall where a Grand mirror was mounted. Taking them gently into his hands he placed them into his eyes with the help of his reflection. It took him a moment for his eyes to adjust to the alien object but they eventually got use to the sensation.
"So, tell me how they are." I asked when he turned his attention to me.
"Well, they fit an all but it looks like I'm looking out a window, kind of hazy." Finny said while looking around, wide eyed.
A sigh escaped my lips. It was a failure.
"I guess glass isn't the best material to use. Take them off and I'll dispose of them." I said sadly.
"I'm sorry, Ms.Y/N. I didn't mean to upset you." Finny said after handing me the box of lenses.
"T'is quite alright. You did nothing wrong. I guess I will just start from scratch, but that's the whole point of experimenting isn't it?" I said, trying to lighten the mood.
"I suppose so! I've got to get ready for the day. Goodbye Ms.Y/N!" Finny waved after disappearing into his room.
Once the door shut I walked at a fast pace to my own room to start to get ready. I was one hall away before I ran into a firm chest. Looking up, I saw the piercing annoyance in his eyes.
"Terribly sorry, Mr.Sebastian. I didn't look where I was going." I said while urgently trying to get past him.
All he did in response was step right in front of me when I went to go around him, Smiling all the while.
"Pardon me, but why on earth are you walking around in your nightie?" Sebastian asked sickeningly sweet.
I looked down at my long, blood red night gown. It wasn't see through so there wasn't much caution in my mind when I wondered the house. In the words of my Father, however, it is quite unlady like.
"Why, I didn't even realize I was still in them. Thank you, Mr. Sebastian.'' I tried to play it off as being thick but that didn't seem to satisfy him in the least.
"Then can you give me a reason why you stayed in the Garden house all night?" Sebastian asked.
I nervously played with the ribbon around my waste. I didn't think he would notice as I made sure I went out unseen.
"I was helping Finny with some new methods of gardening and I stayed behind to track the progress overnight." I lied expertly, at least I thought.
"Oh, then does that box contain said information to the new gardening method? I would love to see the results." Sebastian said as he reached for said box that rested in my palm.
I got an idea and fully extended my hand with the box in it and smiled.
"Why yes, it's not much though. I would need a few more observations before I can come to a solid conclusion."
Sebastian didn't even miss a beat, grabbing the box as soon as I extended it. Before he could open it, however, Finny came running down the hall.
"Mr. Sebastian! The young master is sick! He's in his bathroom floor." Finny managed to say between gasp for air.
Sebastian hesitantly handed the box back over to me and looked at his pocket watch. He sighed and placed his watch back into it's proper place.
"I suppose I must tend to him. He woke an hour early so it must be serious. Finny, grab a bucket of warm water and a cloth and meet me in the young masters chambers. " Sebastian instructed and walked into the direction of the young masters room.
I turned to Finny and smiled wide.
"You are a God send, Finnian."
"What? I don't think I understand Ms.Y/N?"
"let's just say that you and I will have a bit more work for us. Sebastian is getting too nosey so we will have to be a bit more careful. In the meantime, you go help Sebastian while I go look for a new method of gardening to observe."
