Randhir returned home early that night and instantly went his room to look for his wife as his mother had already informed him about her being unwell.

As he entered the room, he found her sitting on the bed with a straight face, lost in her thoughts. He went near her and caressed her hair to let her know of his presence.

"What happened to you? Mom told me you fainted today. Even I am seeing your pale face since a couple of days. Come let's go to the doctor." He held her hand to drag her.

"I already checked with her." Sanyukta blurted out still not looking at him.

"You went alone? I would have taken you. Anyways what did she say?" He inquired.

"I am pregnant." She gave him the big news but somehow her face couldn't reflect the excitement.

But Randhir's world had already stopped to notice anything.

She was pregnant!!

He was going to be a father!!

His baby!!

Randhir couldn't think of anything else as water surfaced his eyes on the serene feeling that couldn't be described in words. Without thinking anything else, he clutched her tightly in his arms and started the trail of thankyou-s.

Sanyukta pushed him lightly and looked straight into his eyes. Randhir was till now lost in his happiness but this sudden action got him confused. She shook her head lightly at his clueless face and started.

"You know what? Today is a very eventful day. Today only I got to know that I am going to give birth to a new life and today itself I also got to know the name of the person who gave me a new life." She looked at him with cold eyes.

"Wh... What are you ta...talking about Sanyukta?" Randhir stuttered.

"Harshvarshan Singh Shekhawat, it is your father's name right? You know, it is also the name of the man who admitted me to my orphanage. What a great coincidence right? Or is it?" Her piercing gaze was killing him already.

"I don't know what are you trying to say Sanyukta." He averted his gaze.

"Of course. How would you know? Your father suddenly emerges out of nowhere and admits me to the orphanage and after 8 years you emerge out of nowhere and marry me. That doesn't make any sense, does it?" She finally lost her cool and shouted standing up.

"Sanyukta please calm down, its not good for your health." Randhir was concerned.

"Then tell me the truth Randhir. All this isn't a coincidence right?" Her eyes rained.

Randhir didn't know what to do. He was in a dilemma, if he says no then she will not trust him and keep on straining herself and if he says yes then she will be hell angry and might even leave him. Now it wasn't just her but also their baby on stake so he chose to do the latter as their health is what matters to him the most.

"Yes." He whispered in a voice that was barely audible.

Sanyukta was already expecting this answer but she did wish in a corner of her heart to get a negative answer. This reply sent her emotions to the edge and she clutched his collars tightly and jerked him hard.

"What is your relation with my family? How had your father known my family? Tell me. Tell me why did you marry me damn it?" She screamed at him as her breathing got heavy.

"Sanyukta please calm down if not for me then think about our baby. Please don't stress yourself. I'll tell you everything." He tried to hold her hand.

"No. Tell me everything now." She demanded in a feeble tone as she was actually tired of all the screaming.

"I will. You sit down first." He quickly managed a glass of water for her.

Sanyukta sat down on the bed with her one hand pressing her forehead to suppress the rising pain and another hand on her belly, trying to feel her baby to calm her nerves. She pushed the glass away that was offered in front of her and looked at her husband pointedly.

Randhir took a deep breath and sat down beside her. It was time. He mentally chirped a sorry to her as he was going to break his promise. He held sanyukta's palm which she tried to retract but he tightened his grip, denying to leave it.

"Speak up." She was hell frustrated looking at his silent and lost state.

"Remember I had told you about Meera's death? When she denied to marry the guy he got very angry..." He was cut in middle.

"I don't want to know the story. Tell me about my family." Sanyukta said impatiently.

"Please listen to me first." He requested. "He got so angry that one night he somehow sneaked into her room, in a completely drunk state and... And raped her." He completed the sentence successfully, without breaking into a sob.

Sanyukta was shocked to hear that. She felt a shiver in her spine even thinking of that misery. Involuntarily her hand reached out for him and rested on his lap.

"The whole house was echoing with her screams. Me, mom and dad were standing outside the room trying to think what could we do as he had dragged the dresser and study table in front of the door and the window. I and dad were screaming and mom was broken. Can you imagine, the person you love the most, going through the most painful torture and you standing there completely helpless. I had started hitting the door violently and it broke down after few minutes. But till the time we got inside that beast had done the damage. My sister was in the ICU for a week but she didn't survive. Do you know who that guy was?" Tears continuously rolled down from both of their eyes as they relived the most bitter nightmare of his life.

She shook her head very lightly at the question in the end. Why would he ask that? How would she know?

All her confusions were cleared as he said the next three words. Words she never wanted to rather never expected to hear.

"Ankit, your brother."
