The Day After

If you didn't know any better, you'd suspect Violet was getting prepared for World War 3.

She had been watching billions of funny videos to cleanse her mind of what she saw last night, and even tried meditating, before Dash had come in and ruined it, saying she looked ridiculous, and well after that, she wasn't in the mood to try again. Having come up with retorts, excuses and blatant lies to why she couldn't sit with Hiro, Penny and...well she was almost certain she could survive the day. Just don't think of what you saw last night. Act natural. However, if all else failed, then she did have pepper spray. For some reason.

You never know when you might need that stuff!

That wasn't all. She'd actually experimented with make-up, telling herself it was for research purposes only. Not because she wanted to impress... no! Besides, she thought, I look like a clown, she noted, before furiously scrubbing the eyeliner off her eye. It was wobbly too. And too thick. Plus, totally not worth it for the amount of times she had stabbed herself with the mascara.

Wilbur, had, also prepared for the day. He needed to get to the point, without sounding creepy or weird. Is she Invisigirl? What will she do if I find out? Do I really want to know? Honestly, he was a little scared of her, even more if she was a super, with Mr Incredible as her dad. But Wilbjr was sure that when he turned on that Wilbur Good Ol' Robinson Charm, she'd be begging to tell him. Well...maybe not exactly, but she'd tell it him eventually.

Smiling to himself, he launched his body off the bed to his bedroom mirror. "That's cowlick's looking on point!" He told his reflection, admiring it, whilst patting it gently on the tip. The girls would come a runnin'. (Sure Wilbur, sure)

By the time he had actually made it to school, he was just about late, and had to run to mentor to get signed in. By the time he had made it to his first lesson, he was bent over double and greedily panting in all the air he could. When he was finished, he heaved himself onto his high up science chair and rested his head on the table. Suddenly, he heard a little giggle next to him. In other circumstances, perhaps he'd be more alert, but his mind had been left behind at the bus stop, along with his jammy dodgers that he was SURE he put in his bag not his pocket, and he was also sure there was a FULL bag of them last night but hey ho he was rambling...who's giggling again?

(I'll give you a clue, Wilbur. Purple.)

Violet! Wilbur peeked an eye open to look at the dark haired girl next to him. And sat up streight. "Oh, hi Vi!"

Smiling, Violet opened her mouth to say hello back, when she suddenly had an image flash through her mind from last night, when she'd been trying to rescue him, and had seen him without a t-shirt. Without warning, she started to blush violently, and, stuttering her words, began to inwardly panic. Wilbur looked at her concerned, "Are you okay?"

"Huh, uh, oh yeah. I just- err, I must - I mean lust - not that! I -" Thankfully the teacher walked in, saving Violet from any more awkwardness, and Violet used her hair as a kind of wall between her and Wilbur as she pretended to concentrate on the lesson. In truth, she was frantically trying to think of a way out of this mess. Wilbur gave her a long look, before turning away to look at the teacher himself.

The rest of the lesson followed suit in that awkward fashion.

By the time lunch had arrived, Wilbur had made his way into the back of Violet's mind, as she had been focusing on her lessons. It was only when, whilst chatting with Penny, she turned into the diner to see him with Hiro. She stopped, standing up bold upright. Not realising until she crashed into her back, Penny looked up to see what she she was walked into. "Violet? What's the matter?"

"I...erm, I just remembered I've got maths revision at lunch. Sorry."  Turning to leave, Violet started towards the door, when Penny suddenly grabbed her arm, and jerked her chin to where the two boys had looked up at the commotion. Cringing slightly, Violet felt her stomach churn from being ashamed at what she was doing. It was rude, it was horrible, but what if Wilbur connected the dots between her and Invisigirl? It was just too risky. She took a deep breath, and wrenched her arm away with the superhero strength she had inherited slightly from her dad. "Wait!" Called Penny, "I thought you too had made up!"

Everyone's staring everyone's staring oh my gosh help help help.

Panicking, Violet ran out the dining room's door, streight out to the frount of school with that familiar patch of grass and steps. She had overreacted, that she knew, but hoped Penny and Hiro wouldn't judge her too much for it. As for Wilbur...she's apologise later. Blame it on exam stress. He'd know, he'd see right through her lies, but hopefully would just let it lie.

Suddenly, she heard the doors into the school open. Penny? She peeked her head up, to catch a glimse of who it was. Wilbur. Upon seeing her, he made a beeline for her hiding spot, and for a moment Violet considered turning herself invisible. But then he'd know for sure I was a super, she thought, which kind of defeats the whole point.

Instead, she stood up and brushed down her school skirt, whilst racking her brains for an excuse. Homework? Exams? Forgetting something? An immediate allergic reaction to... "Hey Violet." She jumped up with suprise, and banged her head on the steps.

"Ouch!"

"Are you okay?"

"Huh? Oh yeah, don't worry." There was an excruciatingly long silence. Then, summoning courage, Wilbur spoke.

"Hey, earlier, in the diner...when you left..do you still hate me?"

"What-no!" Replied Violet. "It's just - I.." She caught something from the corner of her eye. Hiro and Penny, watching them from afar.

"You're not even listening, Vi." She snapped back to him. "Huh?"

"Exactly what I mean! Why do you hate me so much?"

"I don't, I just..." Were they taking pictures?

"Violet, you're not looking at me! What are you looking at?!" He exclaimed, and craned his head to see what she was seeing.

"Nothing, it's just..I.. I'm sor-"

"HIRO AND PENNY!?" The two sheepishly stood out from behind the frount school doors. "Why are you guys here?"

The two mumbled apologies, and looked at their feet in embarssement. Turning away from the scene, Wilbur handed Violet her bag she had left in the diner as a peace offering. "Do you think this will make me like you?" Exclaimed Violet, knowing she was being horrible, but once she had started, she couldn't stop.

"No, not with that attitude! Are you always a cow to everyone?!"

"How dare you! At least I don't ride on my dad's coattails to get popular!" Stop stop stop now Violet told herself, but couldn't.

Wilbur's eyes opened wide. She had struck a nerve. "You think you're so high and mighty, do you Violet! You act as if you're a beloved hero of the city BUT YOU'RE NOT!" You may look like Invisigirl but she would never be such a b%$&£ to anyone!"

"You don't know anything about me!" People were staring. Violet felt her hand drift into her bag, and feel a cold can.

"I can see everything! You're as see through as Invisigirl!"

"What's the obsession with her so sudden!? You got a crush!?"

"I'd have more of a chance with her than you do with Tony!" In a sudden blast of pure anger, Violet launched the pepper spray at him and sprayed it in his eyes. In a heartbeat, she realised what she had done wrong.

Crap.

A/N it's been a while, I know,so I made this chapter a bit longer.  Also I'm sorry for the cussing, but I felt it was appropriate for this heated scene. Let's hope Wilbur doesn't go blind! Thanks for reading,
