The Rainbow On The Other Side//Phan

Phil raised his sleeve to once again inspect the name and sexuality on his wrist. Everything was still the same; The word "Gay" written in rainbow and the name "Daniel Howell" underneath. Phil ran a hand through his black quiff thinking about what his parents would say if he showed them his sexuality. Phil's parents have asked him before, just he told a lie saying that he was straight and the name "Valarie Myres" was the woman that was his soulmate.

"Philip?" His teacher said, grabbing Phil's attention almost immediately. "Are you paying attention?"

"Yes, Mrs. Shuns." Phil shook his head and rolled his sleeve down putting away the writing on his wrist.

"Would you care to do this problem?" Mrs. Shuns asked, giving Phil an anxiety attack.

"Sure," Phil sighed as he got up to the front of the room and began solving the equation on the whiteboard. Phil was particularly good at math even though it was his least favorite subject.

"Very good!" Mrs. Shuns applauded.

Phil went back and sat down back in his seat letting out a heavy sigh of relief.

"Alright, class!" Mrs. Shuns clapped twice, grabbing everyone's full attention. "We will be getting a new student tomorrow." Phil didn't really care that his class was getting a new student, but everyone else did because maybe the person will be their true "soulmate."

"I hope he's my soulmate." Troye, Phil's best friend sighed as he looked down at his wrist that also had the word "Gay" but, the name "Tyler Oakley".

A few people in Phil's school had already met their soulmate, which they were lucky because not everyone does end up meeting their soulmate. Phil's friends PJ and Chris were each other's soulmates and as soon as they found out, they never left each other's side, besides when they had to go home of course. And of course, there was Tyler and Jenna the adorable straight couple goals that everyone wants.

Everyone wanted to meet their soulmate, that's all anyone cared about. Phil, on the other hand, could give a fuck less honestly. All he wanted to do was play video games and read comic books.

"Everyone! Lucy has asked a question!" Mrs. Shuns announced.

"What is the new kid's name?" Lucy asked the whole room went quiet, you could hear a pin drop.

"I don't remember his full name but, I think the kid's name starts with a 'D' ."

Phil snapped his head up from drawing on his paper. A 'D'? Phil thought. Maybe this could be my soulmate? Phil thought about this for a long time as his teacher began teaching the math lesson again. Phil thought about all the names that started with a 'D' other than the name "Dan": Danielle, Darby, Dominick, Don, Dylan, Dayton, Donna, Dave, Dianna; The list went on and on.

Phil wrote down more and more names that started with the letter 'D' until eventually, the class was over and now waiting to be dismissed.

"Hey, Phil," Troye said, turning towards his best friend. "Maybe, the new kid tomorrow will be your soulmate." Troye winked as his blue eyes glistened.

"I doubt it." Phil sighs as he studies Troye's blonde curls.

"Don't doubt it, Phil!" Troye exclaimed. "You have a chance to meet your soulmate!"

"Alright, Troye," Phil began. "The new kid tomorrow may be a 'Daniel' but, what if his last name is not 'Howell'? What if it's 'Renolds' or something?"

"Than, your search for your soulmate will continue." Troye smiled.

Phil thought about this for a moment when the bell to leave rang. What if I actually meet my soulmate tomorrow?
