my backbone

i walk through the halls,

swiftly as a deer.

unnoticed and untouched like a child with her dolls,

stories and tales are all i hear.

my presence means nothing,

but to me you're all i think about.

often times i dream of you as a king,

and then i have self-doubt.

these halls often get lonely,

even when they're filled like a stream full of fish.

i try to make my way through blindly,

but your voice and face are the things i perish.

come back, love

because as i enter my destination,

i put you and your presence above

before anything else i need to get done.

your intelligence is impressive,

those kind words that leave your mouth make me smile.

your history facts are often addictive,

and i cannot forget your fashionable style.

you made those long car rides seem short

with those old songs always on repeat.

i have always loved your support,

and your love for christmas eve was a treat.

you'd take us to get sweet cinnamon donuts with warm apple cider,

but i haven't seen you in a month or two.

last time i had seen you the weather had been colder,

oh, if only you knew.

all the love
