Chapter 3- Fallen note

Acacia P.O.V

The blessing of Aphrodite someone murmurs.

Aphrodite... why Aphrodite..? I'm not that shallow, am I? I don't want to be known for my beauty. Everyone is looking at me like I'm an alien. I start to tear up. I've heard of the Aphrodite traditions. You have to break hearts to prove your worth to Aphrodite.... How could I do that...?

I bite my lower lip to keep the tears in. I look at Leo, silently begging for help.

He blinks and keeps staring. 

The Aphrodite cabin are looking at me disapprovingly, shaking their heads and snickering behind my back. As if to say, she will never fit in now.

I sob and run into the woods. 

Amazingly, the mascara doesn't run and my hair doesn't get messy- not that it's a good thing. 

I hear Leo calling my name, but I don't stop. I keep running until I am out of breath, I sit underneath a tree and cry.

I hate being a half-blood.

I hate being a daughter of Aphrodite.

I hate myself.

'Hey, What's wrong princess?'

I look up to see brown, curly hair and a crooked smile.  

Leo.

I bury myself in my arms even further and refuse to look at him.

'Don't call me princess.' I murmur

 'Oh, sorry princess.' he chuckles

I get up and climb the tree, hoping to get far away from anyone as possible. Especially Leo.

'Hey! Party's not over yet!' he calls

I slump down on a steady branch and watch him.

'What's wrong?' He asks, his voice full of concern.

Everything 

'Hold on, I'm coming up.'

He climbs up swiftly and turns his head to see me.

I blush and look down quickly.

'You know, being a daughter of Aphrodite is not that bad.'

I raise my eyebrows.

'How do you know?'

He grins and scratches his head cheekily.

'I just do.'

We sit there side by side, silently looking into each other's eyes. It's like a staring competition, no one wants to break the moment. 

I give in a look away. 

'I don't fit in, I'm not like them..'

'No, your twice as beautiful, your kind and you can kick butt.'

I laugh and jump down from the tree.

He looks at me and grins. 

A warm glow fills the air...

'Leo!' I yell

He looks startled and falls from the tree.

I run over to him.

'I'm so sorry... I didn't mean to...' 

He quickly pats the fire from his hair and chuckles.

'I'm alright princess. If it wasn't for you, I would be burning down the whole forest! Plus,' He grins 'you pay attention to me when I'm hurt.' 

I sigh of relief and nudge him playfully.

'Should I fall from the tree again?'

'LEO!' I laugh.

He gets up and runs a hand through his curly hair. 

'Shall we go..?'

I nod.

We run out of the forest together, occasionally stopping to put out the fires in Leo's hair.

He points to the Aphrodite cabin.

'Enjoy your stay there princess, don't let them get to you, alright?'

'Ugh,' I grumble 'I almost forgot.'

He laughs and rubs my cheek with his hand.

'Meet you tomorrow morning?'

I blush and walk up to the Aphrodite cabin. 

'Yeah, tomorrow' 

I turn back just in time to see something drop out of his pocket. 

I run over and pick it up. It's a note.

I call out to him, but he's already in Cabin 9.

I hesitate not knowing if I should read it.

One peek wont hurt...

Slowly, with my fingers trembling, I open it.

My eyes grow wider with every word.

I gasp and stuff the note into my dress pocket.

'Oh my Gods....'
