Chapter 8- Love, Feelings, Joy

 LEO P.O.V

'Follow me.' She says as she takes my hand and drags me into the forest.

I try not to burst into flames from excitement or joy.

'Are you sure your not breaking up with me?' I grin slyly.

She turns back and gives me a slightly annoyed look.

'I promise on the River of Styx.' she giggles. 

Thank goodness.

I pull her to a stop and she glances back at me nervously.

'Why did you drag me all the way here?' I question.

'Because.... I don't want people to hear.' She mumbles quietly.

I tilt my head and look at her. She refuses to look back.

She stops, as if she was afraid and reaches into her dress pocket hesitantly. 

Her fingers fumble as she takes out a piece of paper and holds it for me to see. 

My face turns white.

'Is that..? How could that.....?

She blushes and gives the note to me

'Please tell me you didn't read it Acacia.' I hope.

She hangs her head in shame, then looks back up at me smiling. 

'Read it.' She urges me shyly.

I don't want to, but I do it anyway.

Dear Acacia,

As you know, I'm a total idiot and every time I wanted to tell you how I feel, the words just wouldn't come out. So I wrote them down.

From the moment I saw you, I thought you were amazing. Nobody could ever measure up to someone as kind as you, even the Gods. Every time I'm with you, I'm more than just myself, I am better because of you. Your my reason to live and die for. I will do anything for you, kill every monster that so much lays a finger on you. I will always protect you and hold you in my arms.

You always know how to surprise me. You may not realize, but every time you smile, my heart beat quickens into a race. The tension is killing me. I love you Acacia, you may not love me back, but I love you. And I am willing to risk everything for you.

I blush and look at her ashamed. 

'Turn over.' She whispers.

I don't remember writing anything on the back..

I flip the letter over and read.

I love you too Leo.

P.S You ARE an idiot.

Acacia.

I look up at her, unsure what to say. 

I take her hands in mine and squeeze them gently.

'I love you Acacia.' I grin as I pull her into an embrace.

She looks up at me smiling.

'I love you too.' She murmurs as she lays her head onto my chest.

We stand there cuddling, feeling each others warmth and refusing to let go. 

She looks up at me with her multi-coloured eyes and smiles. Butterflies flutter around in my stomach. She stands on her toes, leans in close and kisses me on the cheek.

My face turns beet red.

'So.. are we officially dating now?' I ask cheekily.

She rolls her eyes and pushes me gently.

'Should we tell our friends?' I ask

She bites her lower lip and thinks.

'No,' she says smiling. 'We'll let them guess.'

'Sounds good to me.' I say. 'Do I get another kiss?'

She laughs. It sounds so pure, so warm.

She gives me a quick peck on the nose, and takes my hand.

'Let's go back to our cabins.' She says blushing

I could have stood there all day, trying to remember my name, but the sound of her voice snapped me back into reality. 

'What are we waiting for princess?' I smile.

We walk up to the Aphrodite cabin, hand in hand.

I give her a quick hug, which makes her face flush bright pink.

'Bye Princess.'

'See ya Leo.'

I give her one last glance as I head towards sword training. I couldn't help but smile.

See Aphrodite? I grin. A happy ending with no sacrifices made.

But little did I know.. this was just the beginning.
