Chapter 14- Blame and Shame

LEO P.O.V

I cradle her in my arms. It is satisfying to know she trusts me enough to let me do so.

I carry her up to her cabin and knock on the door.

Suddenly Piper's head pokes out.

'What are you doing?!' She screams

'Shut up!' I yell/ whisper as I point to Acacia. 'She's sleeping!'

She eyes me suspiciously.

'Did you take her to the demi-gods of Hypnos's?'

'Is that like.. the god of magic?' 

'Hecate is the goddess of magic! Hypnos is the god of sleep!'

'Oh... No, I didn't. Now let me place this cargo somewhere before I drop it and it turns into a fire breathing Drakon.' (not dragon) 

'You can carry her inside.' Says Piper as she opens the door wider.

'Thanks for ALL the help.' I mumble as I walk inside.

Even before I got inside, the stink of perfume choked me and pulled out my lungs. I gaged

'I know right?' Piper murmured as she pegged her nose with her fingers. 'It's gotten worse, trust me.'

Suddenly Acacia woke up, failing around in my arms and kicking like crazy.

'Leo! You woke her up!' Piper screamed

'It wasn't me!' I protested.

'Leo...?' 

Acacia's sleepy eyes lock with mine.

'Welcome back to the world, Princess.' I cooed

She pushed my face in the opposite direction and laughed.

'Look who's begging for attention.' Mackenzie chuckled from the other side of the room.

Acacia looked embarrassed and immediately got me to put her down.

'Sorry about that Leo.' She says, refusing to look at me.

'Nah, It's fi..' I start

'Now she's playing innocent!' Mackenzie spat 'We ALL know what she's up to. Any minute now, she'll  breaks his heart and walk away! What a snob, she's not even pretty! If I was Leo, I would have dumped her!'  

I was bubbling with anger. No one says stuff like that to Acacia. Not with me around.

'And look at her hair! She looks like a cyclops with it's head...'

With out warning. I set myself on fire in complete anger.

'DON'T SAY THAT TO HER YOU... MEDUSA'S HEAD!' I yelled, I'm walking closer to Mackenzie with every word.

'HELP!' She screams.

I make a fire ball with my hand and lifted it above my head, ready to throw at her.

Suddenly Chiron walks through the door, his hooves clopping behind him.

I let the flame die.

'What is the meaning of this Leo?'

'He was trying to KILL me!' Mackenzie sobs, dabbing at her mascara. 'It's not MY fault Acacia is so UGLY!'

Chiron ignores her and faces me.

'Can you tell me what happened Leo?'

 'No sir,' I stumble over my words. 'I don't know what came over me.'

He nods and looks at me with his wise, knowing eyes.

'Well, there are consequences for attempting to kill a camper on purpose.'

Acacia gasps.

'Chiron! It wasn't his fault! It was m..' She protests

 'Acacia, shut up.' I say. 'It was my fault. I take full blame.'

I expect her to be angry at me, but all I can see is guilt. She buries her face in her hands and sobs. I want to be there for her, but I stay still, in the depths of my own emotions.

'Well, Leo,' Chiron says 'since you are in charge of Cabin 9, I will not burden you much. You punishment is to not use your fire for the year and not work with metal for a month. Can you promise me that?'

I nod. I seriously couldn't though. Creating and fixing things was my LIFE. 

Then he looks over to Mackenzie, who was staring in the mirror.

'And Piper?' Chiron says

'Yes?'

'I will leave HER in your hands.'

Piper grins.

'You can count on me.'

Before Chiron leaves the cabin, he pats my back and whispers,

'You will be a true hero Leo Valdez, a true hero.' Then he walks out the door.
