Rogue's Romance
Chapter One

____________________________________________________

Robert

I'm on the road towards Northridge, after I left Pineway. This is my fifteenth time to relocate and this is the last town I haven't been to. Hopefully the last town, because I've already resided in each and every town this country had. I never go back to the same place twice, because the local packs had already familiarized me; an intruder.
I may as well be living a life of a wanted man for I have hid myself for as long as I can remember.
New town, new people, but the same ol' me, just new identity.
I have no choice but to immigrate to another country, if ever-- I really hope not.

I saved this town for last, because my aunt had a cabin here, meaning I'll have my own place. This town has a tranquil pack.
I actually never heard of their pack before I have done my research, only in general about the pack. I didn't really went further deep in details.

Northridge is the territory of Midnight Moon Pack.

I let out a sigh.
Another moon-suffixed pack. Crescent moon, Dark moon, Blood moon.

Why don't they just form one big happy Moon Pack?

Apparently, they're the largest pack in the country, though living in a small town. Most of Northridge's population are that of the pack's.

Looks like I'll be encountering more wolves, more reason for me to be wary.

They said that they are a very strong bunch, having a well-organized military force. Not one to mess with. Having an unfortunate history made them stronger. In the last decade, war, even petty rogue attacks were seldom, hence a tranquil pack.
Though I doubt that they'll be very welcoming towards rogues.

Anyway, I'm going to start afresh, again. I have been moving numerous times. I'm tired of moving.
There are times that I wish I was just a human.
No territories, no pack, no scents, no hierarchy, no rogues and I can freely choose the one to spend my life with.

If only my family were all humans. My parents wouldn't have died. I wouldn't be moving constantly. I'd have a bestfriend, friends, gang, even a lover for goddess sake! But all of those will remain as my fantasies. Fairytales. And we all know fairytales are too good to be true.

In our modern world no one would kiss Snow White. Gross. Who would kiss a dead girl from poisoning? A psycopath he is, and they'll get poisoned as well.

I can't even find people who would accept a ragged ol' rogue as me, much less a mate. I've already dismissed that hope in the deepest depths of my mind; too ambitious.
Peace is what I need.

.

After hours of driving, I've reached the boundary between Pineway and Northridge, a stone bridge that connects the two cliffs separated by a stream of river below. It was such a sight, together with the afternoon orange sky.
A billboard that said, "Welcome to Northridge!" greeted me upon my entrance. I scoffed.

Welcome. Yeah, sure.

This time getting exposed is not an option. I am a rogue, whatever happens, I can't let anyone figure that out.

This may be my only chance having my own place. A home.
I can't really buy my own house and lot, 'cause I'm only in highschool.

I drove my way towards the base of the mountain where the cabin is located. The cabin was a gift of my uncle for my aunt, his mate, it was their vacation house.
Calling it my own, makes me feel giddy and excited. I guess living and moving from apartment to another can do this to you.
I parked my truck infront of the cabin. It's not big but it's good enough for me. Its walls are consisted of stacked logs, installed with wooden doors and windows. I fetched my keys and climbed the front steps, walked across the porch and stood infront of the door. I inserted a key in the keyhole and twisted the knob, the door opened. I stepped inside and checked every room the cabin has.
