"American's like peanut butter"
Shay's P.O.V
Telling Michael about my path that led me here to the lake went extremely well. He listened attentively & he didn't judge at all. I just felt like I could be so honest around him & that was rare to feel.
I didn't want the entire night to be so serious though so I thought of something to lighten the mood for a little bit.
I took Michael's hand & led him back to the kitchen.
"Where are we going?"
"I want to one up your donut ice cream sandwich thing from last night."
"Impossible." Michael laughed, "But I'd like to see you try."
I just rolled my eyes at him & then I started gathering things once we got into the kitchen.
"What are we making then?" Michael said, noticing I had quite a few ingredients out.
"Have you ever had a cookie in a mug?" He just shook his head no. "Then you're not living my friend."
I grabbed two mugs & then started mixing everything.
"Is it literally a cookie in a mug?" He asked, a little confused.
"Yea like you bake the cookie in the mug. I can't explain it, just watch." & then Michael did watch as I mixed in the egg, butter, flour & everything. "Okay, do you want chocolate chips or peanut butter chips?" I asked, holding up the bags.
"What are those?"
"They're like chocolate chips but made of peanut butter, duh. It's in the name." I said with a bit of sarcasm.
"Well sorry." He joked right back. "American's like peanut butter."
"Really?"
"Yea, it's everywhere in the states...but I'll try those."
So I made a mug for me with chocolate & his with peanut butter before putting them into the microwave.
They only bake for like a minute so once they were done, he didn't believe me.
"There is no way you made a cookie already."
"I promise I did. See?"
"I still don't believe you."
"Then try it & believe my friend." & then I handed him a spoon & once he ate it, he just smiled. "So?"
"So I was wrong. I believe you now."
"Thank you very much.
& then we walked back over to the couch in front of the fire.
I grabbed a blanket & then joined Michael on the couch, this time, sitting closer, like basically right next to him & putting the blanket over our laps.
"So when did you get your nose pieced? I meant to ask forever ago but I never did."
"Oh, uhm I think it was about a year ago? I was drunk & a friend did it...I just kind of grew used to it so I never took it out."
"Gotcha, I like it. It suits you."
"Really? I feel like it doesn't because I'm kind of like shy & I don't have an edgy look but here I am with a piercing in my nose."
"No, I like the contrast."
"Thanks. What about your tattoos?" I asked, brushing my fingers over the two finger tattoos he had. I liked having some sort of contact with Michael, like I would have loved to hold his hand all night if I could but even just touching his tattoos gave me like this sense of comfort.
