Kate's pov
"Aww shit!" I was playing the goonies video game and yet again it broke and ate my quarters. So that's just swell. I went to the street fighter game and started playing. It was my second favorite game of the entire arcade. So I was pretty good at it. My favorite though was the Simpson's game. That ones really fun but it also eats your quarters.
I chose my fighter and I started playing. My fingers practically glided against the buttons and joystick. I knew what I was doing.
"Next game." Someone said and practically blocked my view
"Can you move please then?" I asked
"Wow feisty." I heard him chuckle.
I ended up winning and I turned around "what's your name?"
"Richie." He grinned "what's your name red headed princess?"
"Kate. And knights are way fucking cooler."
"Again feisty. What if I wanna be the knight to save you?"
"You're getting too ahead of yourself." I laughed
"Wanna play together?" Richie asked "it'd be on me."
I nodded
And so we played street fighter and almost every game in the arcade. I probably won the majority of them but he refuses to believe it.
Every other day for 3 weeks we went to that arcade together. Just hanging out and having fun. Though some of the times he seemed skittish.
"Whats up with you?" I asked as we walked down the street
"Have you seen a creepy ass clown lately?"
I shook my head no "Not after the parade."
"Thank fuck."
I furrowed my brows "Richie what the hell is this about?"
"There's a creepy clown trying to kill my friends and I."
I stayed quiet
"This isn't a joke Kate."
"Richie I-"
We walked into the arcade and up to the street fighter game
"Are you sure you aren't playing too much video games? You know we can do other things. I get it this is our thing and I love it but-"
"Kate I'm not joking! There's a clown trying to kill my friends and I and this dumbass bill is trying to get us to fight it! And I almost died at the neibolt house-"
"You went into the neibolt house?! What the fuck Richie!"
"It's Bills idea to kill it!"
When we started the game he just started going on and on about how bill punched him and stuff
"How come you didn't tell me this sooner?"
"You're a smoking hot girl and I didn't want you to think I was crazy."
"I already think you're crazy." I laughed and lightly shoved him
He cracked a smile.
"Richie!" I heard someone say. My eyes went off the screen and to the boy
"What the fuck do you want bill I'm busy!"
"R-Richie!"
"See that guy I'm hitting I'm pretending it's you." Then he glanced up at me "sorry Kate."
I only shrugged
"It got Beverly."
"Wha/?"
"It richie!"
Richie turned to look at him then me "I have to go. If I die I just want you to know that you're fucking hot and if I dont die I'm gonna take you out to-"
"Richie come on!" Bill dragged him out.
