Lance couldn't breathe and he sat for a minute with his hands on his eyes trying to catch his breath. His cheeks hurt from smiling and he was glad he didn't have a roommate, he'd be waking up Rolo right about now. Lance was laughing so hard his stomach hurt. "No fucking way! So then what happened?" Keith's laugh came through the phone. It was such a nice sound. Lance took a deep breath because his sides hurt. He tried to finish the story but he could barely continue without wheezing.

He coughed once and then twice. Finally finding air and his words. "What do you mean what happened? I told you exactly what happened!" He wiped at the corners of his eyes, his happy tears blurred his vision. It was a definite contrast to the disheartening ones. They were heavy and salty like the sea but these tears were much lighter. He was laying back into his pillows, wrapped in his blanket talking to his new friend. It felt sort of nice.

"So you really had a pep rally cancelled at your school because someone threw a burger at your assistant principal?" Lance nodded even though he knew Keith couldn't see him. He realized he'd need to vocalize something but he couldn't past his own laughter. Keith seemed to laugh just from hearing Lance laugh. He tried to calm down but couldn't. Just remembering it made him crack up. The look of shock on the poor woman's face entered his mind again and he lost it. The image of the ketchup covered burger hitting the woman square in the face kept replaying over and over. "Bullshit! I'm calling bullshit on that story. No way it happened. I don't believe it!" Keith exclaimed so Lance had to catch his breath to rebuttal. "Pictures or it didn't happen!" The other male's breathy laugh washed over him in waves it seemed.

"I didn't get any pictures because it just happened so fast!" Lance tried to defend but Keith made a sound in the back of his throat which had Lance rolling his eyes. "It was like it a spur of the moment kind of thing. I don't even think the kid thought it out, he just threw it!" Lance started laughing all over again. He wished he had a video.

"Oh sure. There's no proof or photo evidence that can back up this insane story." Kieth sassed and Lance sort of found it endearing. It was the first time ever that Keith sassed him over the phone which meant they were getting closer and becoming actual friends. He felt like he really needed a friend.

"I'm not kidding! It really happened! Next time we're in the chatroom you can ask Pidge or Hunk. They're were right next to me when it happened. Ask them about the burger incident! The kid was a total legend at our school and we still don't know who did it." Lance rolled over on his side but kept the phone pressed closed to his ear. It was nice knowing someone was there on the other side. Lately Lance was having a hard time being in his empty dorm. The space was too big and the loneliness was overbearing. He wanted Rolo out since he got back. He liked having the whole room to himself. It made everything easier but now part of him wanted to see the sleeping man's outline. Lance wanted someone to just be with him.

"That's fucking hilarious." Keith said finally and Lance closed his eyes so he wouldn't have to stare at the empty space that occupied the room with him. Maybe a part of him missed his roommate.

"Did it just kill you?" Lance teased, hugging his blanket closer to his body. Even though he felt warm he wouldn't dare unwrap the soft fabric. It sort of comforted him being wrapped in its fuzzy embrace.

"So you have started reading the book." Keith said. There was a sort of smile present in his voice like he was truly and genuinely happy about it. Lance could detect it in the small sentence. "I hate to say it but Holden says that phrase ten thousand times." He pointed out but Lance didn't mind. It was sort of like Holden's catchphrase or something about it went to the meaning.

"Now that just kills me." Kieth sort of laughed at Lance's comment. He liked Holden but he disliked Holden. It was a very weird feeling to both love and hate someone but Lance tried not to dwell on it. A comfortable silence fell between the two men. There was nothing else they could say but neither wanted to hang up. It was late night or really early morning depending on how you saw it. They had developed a habit of talking all throughout the night it seemed.
