The concept of "you and I" is a nice thought.

Before Ushijima was able to refer to you as his "other half", he wholly believed that couples were meant to be distractions. Although both parties consented to share their happiness together, it happened almost everywhere and infected many others where the brunette went. Ushijima didn't object to love struck idiots nuzzling their noses together (in private places) or even when they kept their hands knitted tightly, but distractions were distractions when it came to practice. Now it was seen as rather rude to point out affections that were attempted to be kept low-key, but Ushijima found slight amusement in the surprised expressions of his teammates caught in the red.

"Y-y-you don't understand", was a typical answer accompanied with reddened faces and sheepish reactions.

"I'm so sorry", tended to happen more often.

Maybe it was because of his teammate's lack of priorities that annoyed him whenever their significant other appeared -- god, couples were like a plague. Tendo Satori always made the effort to point out Ushijima's irritated expression whenever a teammate asked for a break during practice even though they had called out for one five minutes before, saying he would most likely do the same thing with 'a cute girl'. Ushijima felt opposed to that opinion due to the fact he had no romantic interests or saw any current interest in women of his age and class, but the thought of it did make him slightly curious to what a significant other would do for his attention.

"You don't think it's too bad, do you?" Ushijima would always refer back to the time he felt no need to pay attention to his desires (most of them revolved around volleyball anyway) and ignored the fact that there was always someone on his mind. She was reliable, someone who was entirely respectable and a person you could trust with anything; he wouldn't mind if he was dating you in all honesty.

"So that's what you thought of me?" Flash forward three years of successfully dating - Ushijima would be concerned with you during certain periods of practice and lecture (college classes tended to be hit or miss with him), prompting little distractions that made him smirk at his own hypocrisy. He knew you wouldn't bother coming to the gym during practice unless you had a reason to aside from dropping off lunch or something he may have forgotten at home (his parents didn't mind to let you in on your own accord), but you never bothered to make the effort to interrupt his practice sessions.

"Ushijima! I've been calling you!"

But your voice and face would run through his mind like an invasive fly that refused to leave his head; he liked that you were his and that there were many precious memories he could recall for his own satisfaction.

The mere existence of you was enough to get him distracted.
