This chapter is dedicated to izzu500. Thanks for motivating me to continue this story 😘. Ily

It's been a week since I came to dad's house, and mom still hasn't come in search of me. Does she really not care about me at all? After hours of dad's persuasion, I succumbed and called mom to inform her about my whereabouts. At first, I was reluctant to tell her because I thought she would come and get me immediately, but surprisingly, she just said "okay" and she didn't do anything about it. For some reason, I was kind of heartbroken because I felt as if my mom picked some guy over me.

I still can't believe what I saw last week, and flashes of that scene keep haunting me in my sleep. What dad told me about mom's past shocked me and I've not been able to get it off my mind. Who would have thought mom was the villain in this story? During this past week, I spoke to Ray about what dad said and asked for his advice on what I should do; I had a hard time trying to decide if I should go back to mom's place, or I should stay here till I'm able to face her for a confrontation. As usual, Ray wants me to talk to her as soon as possible and "get things off my chest" because it's the "mature thing to do." On my way from school, I text Robert to ask if he'd be free after school, but he didn't reply. Things haven't really been good between us since the divorce. In my opinion, it seems as if he has been avoiding me, but I really don't want to jump into conclusions about things. He didn't reply my text, so I decided to go to his house to see if he's okay.

Mrs Maxwell, Robert's mom, opened the door for me after knocking for about thirty seconds "Hey Abbie, how've you been?"

"Fine, thank you Mrs Maxwell. Umm... Is Robert home"

"Yes he is. I'm so sorry to hear about your parents' divorce. Feel free to come over whenever you need to get something off your mind okay?"

"Thank you so much Mrs Maxwell. This means a lot to me." There is now way I'd come over to have awkward talks with this woman. I can't even face my mom, and she wants me to come over whenever I need to "get something off my mind."

"Ahh. Don't mention. You'll find Rob in his room"

As I climbed up the stairs I heard a faint sound of music, and it took me a few seconds to realise the sound was coming from Rob's room. When I got to his room, I knocked twice and went in after no-one answered "Robert I-"
