Beep. Beep. Beep.

I heard distant voices, but I couldn't make out the words. Bright lights burned through my eyelids as I slowly opened my eyes. "Mr Smith may I have a word with you in private?" I heard an unknown voice say to my dad.

"Sure Doctor Faust"

"Abbie?" I heard my mom call out to me.

"M-mommy?" I coughed a little "where am I?" My voice sounded hoarse.

"It's okay baby. You're in the hospital"

"What h-happened?"

"It's nothing baby. You need to rest"

Shortly after I woke up, dad walked back into the ward. "Abbie are you okay?"

"Yes"

"Do you want to talk about what happened? Who did this to you?" What's dad talking about?

"Did what? What are you talking about?"

"Nothing. Don't worry nothing happened"

"Dad" I tried to sit down, but I felt sore between my legs "oww!" I exclaimed, and mom rushed to my bed.

"Sweetheart nothing has happened to you. Just calm down." Mom said, while she made me lay down.

"Sweetheart what's the last thing you can remember?" Dad asked as he sat on the other side of the bed.

"Umm" my voice sounded hoarse again, so I cleared my throat. "I slept over at Ray's house yesterday. When I woke up this morning, Rebecca was making pancakes. Ray woke up before she finished making them, and I had some with Ray. After eating, I went home and..." I broke into quite sobs as I remembered what happened with Robert.

"Come here baby. It's okay" mom said, and moved closer to hug me.

"Mom I'm okay." I sniffed and pulled away from the hug "when I got home, the atmosphere felt tense, so I checked all the rooms to make sure no one broke in. All the rooms were empty..." I took a long sniff in and wiped my tears. "...When I..." I broke into loud sobs "... When I got to my room, a strange scent lingered in the air, and the wardrobe doors suddenly burst open..." I wiped my tears again "... It was Robert. He was in my wardrobe, sniffing my clothes. I asked him to leave, but he wouldn't leave. Instead, he locked the door and he..." I couldn't stop the tears again, so I let it all out. After crying for a few seconds, I wiped my tears and continued talking "... He raped me. Robert raped me" this time, I started crying before I could complete my statement, and I couldn't find it in me to stop crying, so I cried even harder, and I let all the pain flow through my tears.

"Robert did what?!" My dad yelled, as he took out his phone. "I'm calling the cops"

"No dad. Please don't. If you call the cops, things would escalate. I want it all to end here."

"No, Abbie. You have to call the cops" mom chipped in.

"I seem to be forgetting things lately. Did I ask for your opinion on this?"

"Abbie don't-" dad tried to interrupt

"Let me talk" I faced my mother " if I asked for your opinion, please feel free to juggle my memory and remind me. Otherwise, kindly use the door"

"Abbie I'm your mother. You have no right to talk to me in that manner"

"Oh yeah? Then act like it. A 'mother' wouldn't leave her child at home alone and come home drunk at 1 in the goddamn morning, banging God knows who on the kitchen island, where her daughter would have breakfast the next day.
