40. Done with the worst?

Dad's place" I told Dan firmly.

"I'm going to meet the human today. I already told you that" he said eyes focused on the road.

"Drop me off at Dad's place and you can do whatever you want to. It's not like I can stop you" I looked away from him observing the landscape we are passing through the passenger window, not particularly interested in anything.

"Are we having our first fight right now?" he asked.

"We have fought before Dan" I reminded him.

"Do you think I'm overbearing?" he asked hesitantly.

"No" I sighed "You just like to take control of things and I'm not used to people bossing me around. I think it's an Alpha thing for you. I'll get used to it"

"That's overbearing" he said.

"I like overbearing then" I accepted defeat.

"I'll try to tone it down when I'm around you"

I nodded "I just.....I don't want to be there to take sides. I don't want to stand next to you, support you and hurt him. Drop me off at dad's place and when you are done, I'll go there"

"Fine"

"Don't use your strength" I reminded him

"I won't" he gritted out.

"Is this how it's going to be for us?" I bit my lower lip, a strange fear in my heart.

"No" he replied firmly "We will be happy, very happy one day"

I smiled at the thought of that "I want to be very happy with you one day"

"Will you believe me when I tell you that I love you?" he asked meeting my gaze.

I looked away "One day"

"Do you believe him when he says he loves you?" he asked again.

"Are we going to do this all the time from now on? Bringing him between us?" I looked at him angrily.

"Answer me"

"Yes"

He gritted his jaws but said nothing.

"We are here" he said a while later nodding at my dad's house.

"You aren't coming?" I frowned.

"I think he'll break my jaw if I see him now" he replied "It's not safe for me in there"

"Why will he do that?" I looked at him, confused.

"Why do you think he wasn't there yesterday?" He raised a brow.

"Because he doesn't approve of what I was doing" I answered.

Dan chuckled "He didn't approve of what I was going to do. I was going to mark you without your consent. He punched me when I went to your parents with the idea. Vampire punches hurt you know" he made a face "If not for your grandfather's command, he wouldn't have let yesterday happen"

"Oh!" I mumbled stupidly, feeling warm within, a grin almost threatening to spill out.

"You are happy at my expense?" he was grinning too.

"You deserved it. Come on" I smiled "Let's meet dad"

"Seriously?"

"Yeah! Let's go" I pulled him towards the house.

Dad was out of the front porch before we could reach him. And staying true to Dan's words, he brushed pass me and the first thing he did was punch Dan hard across the face.
