Chapter 5: The Last Fight

I wake up in the back of the jet sore as hell. "What happened... oh right, the fight, the battle, the war." I say to myself. I look up and hear Bucky asking about our friends. "Whatever happens happens." Steve says. "I'm not sure if I'm worth all this Steve." He says. "What you did all those years wasn't you." He responded.

"But I did it." I hear him say. "Let me tell you something Barnes." I state as I sit up against the wall, I grunt, then start talking. "It wasn't you, you weren't in control of your own mind, or body, so stop blaming yourself for all the damage that Winter did in your body, with your mind, ok?" I say. "Sure, thanks for that." He says.

Don't mention it." I say starting to go back to sleep. "Elizabeth." He says. "What about her." I say feeling my eyes burn. "I'm sorry for what happened be-." "Don't mention it, like I said, what's done is done." I said going back to sleep, turning my back to them. I laid there silently crying to myself until I fell asleep.

                       Josephine's Dream

I was on the edge of breaking, about to let her take control of me. "Josie, don't let her." Lizzi said to me, coming towards me. The Avengers we're calling her back to them."Get back! She'll kill me, and you in the process!" I say, my voice turning demon like. "I know you won't, you know why?" She ask.

"You know NOTHING about me, what I've done, who've I've hurt!" I shout back, my body getting hot. "I do, I've read your notes; realize how I've never left, never run, never killed you," She stated holding out her hand.

What did we do when you almost killed you self ?" She asked me, the team coming closer to us. I- I came to you before I did anything." I said. "You held me back the last time, everyone minus Tony on the roof, he would've caught me before I hit the concrete floor." I stated, cooling down some.

"What happened when in Sokovia when you ran in-front of Piet and almost got killed during the surgery?" She asked standing in front of me. "You never left me alone, always stopping by at 5." I said coming down from the air.

When Blaz was rumored to be dead, who was there, other then the team, to get you from the ocean floor?" I finally calmed down. "You were there!" I said finally breaking. "And I'll never leave." She said putting her hand on my shoulder.

Back to reality

I was walking out of my thoughts when we landed in a building. We got into another machine, and rode until we got in a base. As we walked out, I seethed as I hit the ground. I saw Bucky look at me, but he was quiet. We had our weapons raised as we walked around. We heard the door creak, as it was being opened, we all got behind each other, Bucky pushing me behind him.

As it opened, Tony and Lizzi; "Son of a gun." I say. "Look, I know you don't like me right now, but truce?" Lizzi ask me as Steve and Tony get in there own conversation. We told Bucky to put his gun down and we walked, but I felt more presences then just us. "They would be in here." I say as we go in the room.

As we found the chamber of the other Winter Soldiers, I realized they all had bullet holes in their heads. "I'm great full though, they brought you here." Zemo said as his chamber lit up, Cap thew his shield, but it bounced back. I looked at the chambers with the now dead soldiers. It's probably for the best of them though.

They're now free of HYDRA's control, and in the life thereafter. As I go to chamber to chamber, I see one empty. I raise my hand to it, and leave it there. "That was yours wasn't it. I only nod, not being able to answer. It was one thing to fight HYDRA, but to come back to a place where you once were was like opening a stitch, an old wound.
