Elena's point of view

I close the Boarding House door, leaving Stefan alone inside, worrying as he always does. A cool breeze of summer air blows through my hair. "Where are you Damon?" I whisper to myself as I step forward into the morning sun. Looking out towards the woods, thinking that's the best place to start, I buckle over in pain. Clutching the door frame for support I breath in deeply. I am starving, I need to feed, but there is no time. Damon is out there somewhere, weak and alone, and I have to find him. I blur through the forest, looking around myself. I stop dead as a tantalizing smell fills my nose. Blood. Human blood. Closing my eyes I try to focus in on the surrounding, the burning in my throat growing again. Frantic I shake my head as my subconscious screams at me 'Damon, you need to find Damon.' Concentrating harder I hear muffled sounds of a family camping in the distance, a small child crying. My head snaps up and I am off, the smell increasing as I get closer. A little girl sits on a rock, clutching her knee as the fresh cut bleeds, the red liquid trickling down her leg. I wait, watching her closely as the sound of footsteps get closer to her. It must be her mom. The woman holds a first aid kit in her hands as she kneels down in front of the small child. My throat aches as I think of what her blood would taste like, my subconscious screams again, only this time it wasn't about Damon. 'Drain her, take her life, she's nothing and you are everything.' I take a step closer as my eyes begin to faze. 'WAIT!' It shouts. 'Wait until she is alone.' I wait, growing inpatient. Finally the mother leans down, placing a small kiss on her daughter's knee. The child skips off, and finally we are alone.
