(Todd)

I sat on the porch swing and stared at the pack's pups playing with each other, some in human form, other's in wolf form. As I stared I felt my wings progressively drooping until they just sat limply on the bench around me. My mouth set in a firm frown and jaw clenched, the tightness in my chest growing harder to ignore.

I wasn't sure what David and Benson were up to, which didn't help the useless feeling that brought me to the brink of tears.

For months now its been like this, I sat here and watched the pups play and slowly tortured myself with the growing need to have my own child. The desperate feeling clawing its way over my skin until it manifested itself as tears running down my face. What's more than that, I knew my mates wanted children as well and I couldn't give them that.

I dropped my face into my hands and held back the sobs, until I felt small hands tap my shoulder "Alpha Todd, why are you crying?"

I lifted my head and looked at the bright, big eyes of Lucy, Beta Jackson and Beta Sophia's daughter. Her shining blue eyes and reddish-blonde hair matching her parents' combined image perfectly, her face was worried as she stared up at me. I forced the corners of my mouth up and shook my head. She frowned and turned and ran into the house leaving me there with tears dripping off my chin and landing on the wood of the porch. My eyes flicked back to the pups for only a minute more before my vision was blurred over with more tears and two familiar bodies stepped in front of me.

Lucy peeked around their legs and tugged at David's hand "Is he hurt?" Benson knelt down in front of me and the heel of his palm wiped my cheek. His eyes were soft as he wiped my other cheek "You've been down for the last couple of weeks Todd. Everyone is worried, tell us what's wrong and we'll fix it." His soothing deep voice made my lip tremble so I bit it hard enough to keep it still and sniffed.

David patted my back and started rubbing in a circular pattern brushing my hair back as well. My shoulders slumped and I let myself fall off the bench swing and hugged Benson. His arms wrapped around me as David rubbed my arm gently, a sob shook my shoulder "I'm sorry! I can't give you k-kids!"

Both of them tensed up and I felt David's hand pause on my arm and tighten while Benson's whole body stopped its gentle rocking, his arms pulled me into him more and he stood up. My feet lifting off the ground so I just wrapped my arms around his neck and my legs around his waist. His hands gripped my legs tightly to keep me from slipping, I quietly cried into his neck as he turned.

I felt David's chest press on my back and his lips brush over my neck, I sniffled and peeked at him from the the corner of my eye. He gave me a sad look, "We didn't think you wanted a child this bad. You should have told us."

My shoulders shrugged a little as I re-buried my face in Benson's neck "It doesn't matter either way, I can't h-have kids..."

Benson hugged me tighter "Do you think this is what Jesse was talking about when she stopped by yesterday?" I shifted a little at his words and looked up at Benson, he was looking at his brother before he turned to look at me carefully. I didn't know Jesse had stopped by, she was suppose to be this pack's Reader but she was always occupied with her school.

Benson kissed my cheek softly before walking us into the house, I saw Lucy staring up at us as she silently followed.

She was a smart little pup, if not a little too nosy for her own good, she often got into trouble for prying into the pack's affairs. She'll make a great Beta when she grows up.

David's hands gripped my hips and he pulled me off Benson to sit me down in his lap on the couch. I wiped my face as Benson walked into the kitchen and came back with a piece of paper. He handed it to me as he sat down next to David and placed his hand on my leg. Confused I unfolded it to see Jesse's quickly scribbled hand writing.
