***(BENSON'S POV)*** yay ***

It doesn't matter how many years its been since David and I found Todd, hearing my mate's scream will always scare me. It'll always make my heart stop and my wolf move my body because I am too slow to react.

I could feel my brother on my heels, our little girl tucked in my arms securely as I ran. My nose picked up Todd's smell and the moment my eyes landed on him he slammed the door behind him shut. I was momentarily confused by the lack of any smells besides Todd that lingered in this room.

Beta Jackson ran in after us as David set Cato next to me and rushed over to Todd. Our mate was breathing heavily with a horrified look on his face, his hands clutched at Jay pressed into his chest. He slowly slid down the door he was leaning on, Serena shifted in my arms and looked at Todd. She touched my neck and leaned away from me to watch as David knelt down and tried to calm Todd down.

His wide, bright yellow eyes turned to Jackson, "Get my kids out of this room right now and do not let them in." His voice was shaky and somehow still held the special commanding tone he'd picked up over the years.

Jackson bowed slightly quickly doing as he was told, shuffling the kids out and glancing at me worriedly. I shook my head at him and he shut the door, turning back I watched Todd's glassy gaze flicked to me. His hand rose up shaking and he opened the door he was leaning on.

My eyes narrowed as I instantly read the violent scene, massive amounts of blood pooling on the floor. A broken desk lay in scattered pieces all over the small room, and pinned to the wall at the center of the mess was Ronald. A long piece of the desk stuck through his stomach, fresh and old blood soaked through his clothes. David yelped loudly and jumped up rushing toward our pack's healer.

Looking over the messy state of the room my mind flashed over the things I saw. Ronald pinned to the wall a foot off the ground by a broken desk, someone strong. Ronald is a well train werewolf, someone fast to have taken him by surprise. There was no smell, at all. Walking forward as David pried Ronald off the wall I looked over the scattered papers everywhere. My eyes picking up the many small clumps of dried plants that littered the mess.

Picking one of the clumps up I sniffed it, getting no smell at all. I didn't know what it was "Benson he's still alive." Quickly standing I helped my brother carry Ronald and place him on the medical bed. His chest was moving very slowly, and shallowly.

"He needs treatment, he'll be dead by tomorrow morning if we don't do something." I glanced up at David, "There is no smell."

My brother's eyes flashed dangerously and he growled at me, "Will you focus for a moment?! Someone from our pack is dying Benson!" I growled right back at him and reached over grabbing his shirt and pulling him closer to me.

"How do you think this happened David?! Ronald is strong enough to challenge an Alpha, there is no smell left behind, he has a blunt object penetrating his body. Think! This was done on purpose, in the pack house!" His face paled at my words, finally understanding what I was saying.

"It was someone from the pack." He whispered faintly looking down at Ronald, he paused a moment as he looked around me at Todd.

I turned around and shuffled carefully over to our shocked mate, his eyes staring vacantly in Ronald's direction. Leaning down I picked his smaller body up, his eyes turned up to me "Babe, I need you to get the kids and do us a favor okay?" He blinked and worry seeped onto his face as he nodded at me.

"We need you to go to Alpha Nicolas's pack, do not call him ahead of time, do not tell anyone where you are going. Explain to Nicolas directly what has happened, and ask him to send his healer for us. Do not trust anyone except Nicolas." His eyes flashed brightly a rainbow of colors as understanding dawned on him. He gasped and ran from the room quickly, David's hand grabbed my shoulder tugging me back.
