(Jay's POV) *** ^_^ ***

I felt uneasy. Very uneasy. Quite the opposite of my siblings. Ren stood next to me almost vibrating in place. I could feel her there, the air pulsing with her excitement. My ears picked up the shuffling of her clothes. Cato stood on her other side, much less fidgety but I could feel he was just as excited as our sister.

Shifting my head toward the warmth I was pressed into I moved my hand up clutching the fingers of the strongly familiar person. Mom. How happy it made me that I was tall enough to hold his hand finally, but I was still short next to him. I knew, the air around him was displaced all the way up and it was amazing how even both my fathers were so much taller. Like giants.

The hand in mine moved and I felt my feet leave the ground as mom picked me up, "Relax Jay. You'll be fine I promise."

My lips pressed together and I shifted my head up, moving the air around us so I could see the details of his face. He was giving me a soft look, the one he used when he knew how upset I was. Frowning I shifted my eyes away from the patterns of the wind, the world around me going dark once again as I let the wind die out. "Why can't you come with me mama?" My head tilted when I heard Ren's snort, "Stop being a baby Jay! Its just school."

I flinched a little at her harsh words, mom moved a little "Be nice to your brother Serena. Get a move along, you'll be late for your first classes." I heard Ren huff and run forward until the sound of her feet faded into the background noises buzzing in my ears.

The murmuring of many people frightened me. I couldn't feel straight with so many people around, the air was being pulled in so many different directions I got lost so easily.

"I'm going to go to my classes too mom. I love you, see you later. Bye Jay." Turning I waved toward to sound of Cato's voice. Mom set me on the ground again and felt him lean down to kiss my forehead, "I can't stay with you the whole day Jay. Do you want me to walk you to your class? Mrs. Roxe arranged for you to have an aid. Just in case." Licking my lips I nodded and felt the scaly skin of Nyx brush against my side.

The deep humming in the back of her throat vibrated the air as mom grabbed my hand I followed him toward the sounds of the school. The further into the crowd we got the slower I walked, my feet dragged on the ground as the air waves mixed and spun around making me dizzy. It took a moment to realize we had stopped walking, I could feel my eyes flicking rapidly trying to make sense of the wind patterns. There were too many going in too many directions.

"Jay." My head turned toward the sound of mom's voice, the soothing tone was closer than I remembered. I felt my eyes starting to water, my hands automatically reached forward to grab at him but he wasn't where he was suppose to be.

"Mama?" My voice cracked with fear, what if he left me here? What if I was alone? Hands suddenly wrapped around mine softly and I was pulled into his chest.

Mom patted my head softly and I hugged him tightly, "Honey you have to calm down. Remember what we've been practicing all week?Just focus your attention on one particular air pattern. Don't try to see all of them, it'll overwhelm you." That's right, a whole week mom has been helping me since we found out about my ability to see with the air. I felt my wings puff up and I sniffed a little.

"There you go. Just focus on me until we get to your class." I did as I was told, walking right next to him careful to only focus my attention on his specific air waves. His were special air waves, everyone's were different but mom's were special. He had more than everyone else and they moved differently. They had a strong pulse that matched with my dads' patterns, they were connected on a different level than most people.
