Cathy's POV
"Hey Cathy, I know you don't get to leave Sanctuary very often... So I'm gonna take you on a special mission."
I give Darren a half smile, raising my eyebrows in suspicion.
"Special mission?"
"You'll see." He chuckles, flashing me a childish grin.
Daren is an alpha, which gives him clearance to come and go as he pleases; he leaves often for hunting trips, or simply to escape to the woods, but this is the first time he's ever taken me with.
"What should I bring?"
Darren shuffles around the room, throwing pocket knives and miscellaneous survival items into a worn army green backpack.
"Just bring yourself."
"Where are you guys going?"
Wynter stands in the doorway, arms crossed, his dark green eyes focusing on Darren.
"If looks could kill kid, I'm just taking Cathy to see the forest, that's all."
"Don't forget that I'm her official protector Darren, I'm coming with."
Wynter walks into the room placing his arm around me, with his eyes still focused aggressively on Darren.
"And I'm your superior, this is a private mission."
Wynter growls under his breath, his white hair falling in front of his face.
"I can't protect her if she's out of my jurisdiction, my orders are to never leave her side."
Darren throws the backpack onto the bed, turning to glare at Wynter.
"I'm an alpha Wynter, I don't know why they assigned you to her in the first place, but I have ten times your strength, and ten times your knowledge, she'll be fine, so fuck off would you."
I can feel the heat off of Wynters body, his grip on my shoulder tightens, I touch his back in reassurance.
"I trust him" I whisper softly, giving him the smile that always seems to soften him a little.
"You better not go wolf out there!" Is all he says before leaving my side and storming out of the room.
