"You sneaking off with Silas?" Jack asked sleepily.

"I am," I said, tucking my phone in my pocket and getting up. "I'll probably head back home after, so don't wait up for me."

"Trust me, I wasn't planning on it," Jack said, tugging his covers up over himself. It wasn't too late out, but Jack was already starting to nod off.

"I'll talk to you tomorrow, Jack. Goodnight!" I said.

I made sure I had all my stuff before leaving Jack's house. I'd left my car parked in Ray's driveway, but had texted Silas about it, who assured me it was fine.

I left the Waymire house and went to the backdoor of Ray's, knocking. Ray opened it and let me inside.

"Garrett is here," Ray said, throwing a plastic cup at Silas's head.

Silas winced a little as the cup hit his head. He was lounging on the couch, turning to glare at Ray.

"Coulda just used your words, asshole," he said.

"Don't bite the hand that feeds, you foul-mouthed, punk ass kid," Ray said, sitting on the other couch. "Put that cup back in the kitchen, by the way."

"And you have the nerve to call me lazy," Silas said, standing up with the cup in his hand.

We went into the kitchen so Silas could set the cup on the counter. We left the house, Silas yelling back to let Ray know he'd be home late.

We got in my car, Silas waiting until I handed him the aux cord. As he set up his music, I rolled the windows down and started driving.

We drove in comfortable silence until I reached the trail. We got out of the car together, the outside world having dropped a curtain of darkness around the area.

As we started down the trail, Silas held his hand in my direction. I looked at him curiously, and despite the darkness, I could almost see the blush on his face.

"It's dark. You seem like the kind of guy who'll trip," he grumbled.

"Oh, good, I'll drag you down with me," I said, taking his hand in mine.

We walked the trail, the sound of the waterfall coming closer and closer. We emerged into the clearing, which was empty except for us. With no trees to block out the light from the moon, it was easier to see in this area.

Silas released my hand and went over to the water. He pulled his shirt off, tossing it onto a dry rock.

"Oh, damn," I said, smacking my palm to my forehead. "I forgot swim trunks. Oh well, water won't hurt."

I took my shirt off and set it on top of Silas's. I made sure my phone wasn't in my pocket before going to stand next to Silas. I poked my toe in the water, which was a little chillier than I'd been expecting, but was bearable enough for a night swim.

"Well? Come on," I said, taking his hand again and jumping forward.

I heard Silas start to let out a protest, but then we were both splashing into the water. I broke the surface, shaking my hair out of my face as Silas popped up next to me spitting water out.
