We had hurried back in the light down pour of rain that had started when we left the church and I made Jessie go for a slow gallop on Periwinkle and they both enjoyed it thoroughly.

We had both agreed that everything we do beyond that point had to either be to do with Moonacre or Jessie's history project so that as soon as we got back to London we could get the documents.

We decided to eat our lunch in the shelter of a hut in the far gardens. We had planned out already what we were going to do and we were all prepared. I was halfway through my lunch in which I had given some to Wrolf and Periwinkle when Robin joined us both.

I gave him a sympathetic smile "Hello Robin. Are you much better?"

"Yes thank you" He said sitting down on the floor. "Um Jessie, I owe you an apology, I'm sorry about yesterday I just got a little mad that was all"

"Robin it's fine. That's what friends do, fight all the time. I've fallen out countless times with my friends back in London" Jessie said shaking Robin's hand.

I felt a little warmer inside knowing that my two friends were no longer mad at each other.

I caught Robin's eye and he winked at me sending my heart in flips all over again. Luckily Jessie didn't notice. We didn't think it was right that he knew we had properly made up.

Then Loveday entered and broke the news to Jessie anyway.

"Ah here you all are" She said pulling down her sodden hood "Robin and Maria! You're together again! Splendid! I couldn't be happier"

"Loveday, we're not like that. Yet anyway. Just friends" Robin explained to the poor, confused Loveday.

"Oh I see!" Loveday said.

Jessie just wriggled and continued eating in the corner.

'Thank you' I mouthed to Robin. But Jessie saw that and threw his food to Wrolf who happily lapped it up.

"I'd best go help Benjamin with something's. I will see you children later!" Loveday quickly left the shelter and everyone was silent.

"Successful day in Silverydew?" Robin asked Jessie, breaking the silence.

"Yes it was. We found out how to get rid of Duncan" Jessie replied, staring at the floor.

"Oh did you now?" Robin said.

"Yes. Maria and I are going to my fathers work place when we get back to London. There is the document that we will need" Jessie explained.

"Ah good" Was all Robin said.

"Oh look the rain has stopped. Let's get Periwinkle back and we can go back in the castle" I said to break the awkwardness.

"I better go find Alex otherwise they will think something's wrong. I shall be back before nightfall" Robin smiled at me then scampered out of the shelter.

I took hold of Periwinkle and Wrolf followed us as we walked down to the stables.

"You still love him, don't you?" Jessie said from behind me.

"I am not entirely sure myself. It should not matter anyway" I told him.

"If it should not matter then I shall go back to London. I am needed there more than I am here. All I seem to be doing is causing tension and upset and I'm terribly sorry" he apologised.

"Jessie, you need not go back out of awkwardness or jealousy" I told him.

"You think I am jealous?"
