Blayne, in the state of partial paralysis, had been unaware of the complete extent of the things that had taken place in his absence, particularly the things that Celeste had suffered while she had been captured and since the attack, he had rarely been out of his rooms. Presently, however, his doctor had advised him to go out in the gardens to receive his daily therapeutic sessions.

While he was being wheeled out by his nurse, he heard two girls talking. At first, it seemed like a normal and harmless girl-talk until it took an unexpected turn.

The first one conspiringly whispered to the other, "did you know what Dante said to me yesterday when I went to give him food?"

The voice of the latter girl held a cadence of excitement as she asked, "what?"

"He asked about Celeste and why she had stopped paying him visits. When I told him that the girl, gone insane, had left the house, he recalled all the good times he had had with her, things they had done to each other and enjoyed it so."

"Oh my!" The second one exclaimed, giggling, "she is such a slut. And to think about the fact that she had been blaming poor Dante all along. Don't you think it makes her a traitor too?" She gasped then, as if realizing something, "I believe that is the reason why Dante is still alive, otherwise who in their right minds would keep the traitors alive?"

Blayne, having had enough, ordered his nurse to take him up to Xavier and on the way, asked another half-vampire to send a message to Colina to meet them all in the throne room.

Once there, he demanded of the Alpha to kill Dante without any further ado so that he could clear his daughter's name.

"I had no idea about all these things that my daughter had done all the while we were all rotting in the dungeons. I did not have an inkling that she could stoop so low. Xavier, you have to help me save her reputation..." Blayne's uproar was interrupted by the doors opening as his wife slid in, nodding slightly to the Alpha and the Luna; eyes, full of rage, on her husband the entire time.

"How can you so easily believe those teenage mongers who have nothing better than to gossip about anything and anyone they can find walking? You say you had no idea about all that had gone down then listen to me, Blayne. You still have a blindfold tied around your eyes. Celeste, the things she has had to go through only to keep us and all our pack safe, you cannot even imagine or even think of," she fired.

"What- what are you enunciating, Colina?" Blayne's stern voice cracked a little.

"She has been raped, over and over again, in the most brutal ways by not one but more than two guys every night we were in those dungeons. She did all of that to prevent all our pack from getting gradually murdered by injected silver. We owe her our lives and this is what she gets? Her father, her hero – the one person for whom she can fight the whole wide world – questioning her character only because two stupid girls can't help but gossip? It's not Celeste who needs to be scolded or saved, it's those girls but more than that those two boys still left alive who need to beware of a mother's wrath." She faced Xavier, "if you believe in her, I want to have those two boys executed as early as possible and I don't want to hear a single word about it."
