Work for some of us, is stressful. It is part of human life and the source of their income to increase their chance in surviving in this cruel chaotic world. It drains energy, reduce the time to spend with our family, friends, and other loved ones and have detrimental effects on the body if stress persists. Sometimes, it can become the cause of the broken marriage, family or a relationship.
A study found that working with a high ratio of co-workers of the opposite gender has a higher chance of getting a divorce, especially men. These men who are working in a female-dominated field where it requires social interaction like the hospital, clinics, healthcare places, and hotel and restaurant, have more opportunity of finding potential mates. Perhaps, their culture accepts men to find a new partner and get a divorce. Or they are more attracted to people with similar education and job interests. In fact, in 2015 study of Journal Royal Society Open Science found that men who live in communities dominated by women are more likely to favor shorter relationships. Plus, the more educated men are, the more they wanted to file a divorce. For women the reverse was true. The less educated the women are, the higher the risk of getting a divorce. Thus, men who are farmers, librarians, construction worker or any job dominated by other men are more loyal to their own spouse.
However, being around with a lot of women or men is not the only factor of why couples divorced. There are various factors like men working as a nurse. They received lower income than any male-dominated fields that results to financial and social problems that might affect the marriage. Or a certain type of personality or attitude that a partner cannot tolerate and despised, so they decided to leave them with someone good-looking, wealthier, smarter, more lovable and caring. Also, getting married at a young age have a high chance of getting a divorce. So more research is needed to be certain if there is truly a link between a work and divorce. And this study is only accounted for opposite-sex marriages.
But the best way to avoid getting a divorce is by NOT getting married.
