I am a shadow
A shadow to someone's light
No matter how I try
I cannot become that light
It isn't something I can defyEven if I still have a little hope
To try and prove my existence
In this light-loving world
I am still nothing
Just a regular ol' shadow
But I'd do anything to have the light's fameYet as a shadow gets darker
To be regarded, respected
Seen by the rest
The light will also get brighter
Blinding as the sun and stars
And this light-loving world would have their eyes on them
For a shadow's purpose is to give prominence to the lightSo I give up
No matter what I do
No matter how much I give
There is nothing that could be done
To beat that troublesome light
All I can do is get darker
Darker
Darker
Until I'm engulfed in darknessAnd become nothing at all
