Chapter 10

**Ashton**

“Luke you don’t need to be nervous, they’ll love you.” I say turning to Luke who’s sitting in the passenger seat of my rental car. We decided not to tell our parents we were visiting so we’re surprising them tonight. He shoots me a scared smile and I peck his lips before climbing out of the car. I pull open his door for him and intertwine our fingers as we walk towards the door. It swings open and Harry runs out wrapping his arms around my waist.

“ASH!” He shouts and I see Lauren’s curtain peel back a bit and she runs downstairs joining Harry in the hug. I look over to Luke and shoot him a smile as my younger siblings let go. Harry grabs my hand and drags me inside the house.

“Who’s this?” Lauren asks wiggling her eyebrows.

“This Luke my boyfriend.” I say pulling him into my side.

“You two are cute.” I hear an unfamiliar voce say and I turn around to see a petite girl who looks to be around Lauren’s age. She has long curly hair and piercing blue eyes that remind me of Luke’s.

“I’m Emma, a friend of Laurie’s.” She says and I look to my fourteen year old sister wiggling my eyebrows she blushes and my mum walks in.

“Ash!” She says engulfing me in a hug. I let go of Luke’s hand and I hug my mum tightly. I pull away and she looks at Luke.

“Is this your boyfriend?” She asks raising an eyebrow and I smile nodding.

“Mum this is Luke Hemmings.” I say and she smiles.

“Hello, it’s lovely to meet you Luke. Is my boy treating you right?” She asks and I blush.

“Yes, he is.” Luke says looking over at me lovingly. I peck his lips and my little brother makes a puking sound causing us to all erupt in laughter. We all sit down and my mum brings in tea for us.

“So how was Uni?” My mum asks and I smile.

“I passed.” I say and she smiles.

“That’s all that matters. What did you study Luke?” My mum asks and he looks down at his skinny legs. I place my hand on his knee and he lets out a breath.

“Biology and English.” He say and she smiles.

“He’s smart too? You hit the jackpot on this one.” My mum says nudging my shoulder.

“I’m going to go start on dinner, why don’t you two head up to your room?” My mum suggests and I pull Luke to his feet. We walk up the narrow staircase and I can see Luke looking at the pictures on the wall with a small smile. We bump in to Lauren and I smile.

“So who’s Emma?” I ask and she blushes.

“She’s my friend, she’s fifteen. We met at the bookstore downtown.” She says and I smile at the look of adoration in her eyes.

“Do you fancy her?” I ask and she blushes furiously.

“W-what? N-no, w-we’re j-just friends.” She says and I look over to Luke.

“You’d be cute together.” I say and she blushes running off. I laugh and pull Luke to my room smiling at the familiar poster covered walls and drum set in the corner. I pull Luke down onto my bed with me and pull him into my arms.

“Thanks for bringing me here Ash, your family is wonderful.”
