"3 days? She's been asleep 3 days?"

"If I didn't keep her asleep she'd probably be arrested right now, so thank you but I know what I'm doing."

Mickey's dad glared at Tony Stark as the two entered the room where said girl was peacefully sleeping. They were back in the states, in New York, to be specific within the walls of the Stark Tower.

Charles Danvers had arrived 20 minutes prior, jumping off an old garbage truck in front of the infamous tower, chirping dog in hand. Tony hadn't bothered to ask how or what he had done to get back in the country so quickly, Danvers had always stated he could do the impossible for his daughter, which included nearly giving himself up.

Tony had convinced him otherwise however, instead they'd compromised over a simple phone call and the details of which would soon be revealed to not only most of the avengers (including the recently escaped and excommunicated) but also to the one who was seconds from awakening.

Charles walked over to his daughter bedside, brushing the hair from her face and squeezing her hand much like he'd done the day she'd been born. He could still see his wife, all red faced and sweaty, panting heavily as she'd looked at him and smiled despite her troubles. She'd been so worried he wouldn't accept the little girl, and yet the moment Charles had set eyes on her; even covered in blood he'd taken her out of the nurses hands as soon as possible and held her tightly. This was his daughter, like it or not, nothing would ever change that in his mind.

He noticed the slit on her lips, a small but just on the bow of her top lip, and across her cheek, the skin underneath her eyes was just beginning to lighten but he could still see the purple splotches there.

His hands gently pressed against her hand before looking at Tony, "what happened to her?"

"She's a hell of a fighter, didn't go down so easily."

"Yeah, she's always been good at that." Charles smirked and smiled at his daughter, completely ignoring the look on Tony's face like he was aggravated.

He blinked away and strode over to the cabinets, plucking something out. "This will wake her up, she'll be angry, if I know her—"

"You don't," Charles cut in with malice as his jaw locked and he seemed pissed. "You shouldn't have sent her to bed like she was some child and you were her parent."

"You're not her father to be making those decisions." Tony snapped, really going low.

Charles narrowed his eyes, standing toe to toe with the Iron Man himself. The secret that Charles and Mickey weren't biologically father and daughter wasn't something that was spoken about, much less hurled at Charles. When the revelation was made to a new person it was always followed by the story of a once powerful man who's insulted Danvers with the very truth when Mickey was about 4, the man had disappeared one night in the midst of a very public restaurant, and no one had heard from him since. His entire legacy was dismantled, so much so that his very name was forgotten.
