Finn's P.O.V.

Millie and I are meeting up tomorrow at the Pre-Halloween Dance. It's basically a dance for all kids under 18 to hang out before Halloween. I do not know why this town worships Halloween so much but people just go with it like it's a normal thing, so I guess I will too.

Millie and I promised not to try figure out each others fears tonight since its just a night of fun. Lets just hope she doesn't break this rule.

I asked Millie to be my date to this Halloween dance as friends and she agreed. I have to admit, I really do like Millie and I really hope she likes me back.

She did agree to go on a date with me if I won but that doesn't necessarily mean she like me, I mean, she could just be really confident she's going to win.

I pull up to Hawkins middle school, where the dance was just starting. I see everybody in orange and black clothes walking in.

Millie said she'd get a ride to the dance since she had something to do before.

I walk into the gym and take a seat at one of the tables.

I start to observe the place. There are tacky Halloween decorations around everywhere and refreshments and snacks lining a table near the back. There are about 12 round tables, one of which I'm sitting at. This Halloween dance is defiantly not a fancy event as most people are wearing jeans and an orange and black top. I'm glad I went with black jeans and a t-shirt with a giant red balloon that says "You'll Float Too!".

I'm watching people dance on the dance floor when all of sudden Millie walks in looking amazing. Her eyes shift across the room before she spots me. She walks over to me, beaming.

"Hey." she says.

"Hey." I say back.

"So... do you want to dance?" I ask.

"Sure, maybe later, it's just that food over there looks so tempting!" she replies

"I know right."

Millie and I spend a good 20 minutes trying almost every type of food at the table and rating them on a scale from one to ten because yes, we are weird.

Then I brought up the dance subject again.

"So Millie, do you want to dance now?" I ask

"Yeah sure." she says, casually.

We walk onto the dance floor and Millie starts singing and dancing her heart out. I laugh at her at first but I join here shortly after. After a few songs, a slow song comes on, Every Breathe You Take by the Police.

It was kind of like an unspoken agreement. Millie put her arms around my neck and I put mine around her waste. We sway to the music until I slowly start to lean in. She does as well. It seems like we're about to kiss until the song ends and a voice comes out of the speakers saying that everybody must leave the building because the dance was ending. Millie and I back away from each other.

'Well, this is going to be awkward.' I think to myself.

We exit the building and Millie says she has to go because her ride's here. She gives my a small kiss on the cheek and with that, she was gone. I place my hand to where she kissed me and smile.

Tonight was fun.
