Chapter 9
I woke up a little early this morning so I decided to dress a little nicer and take some more time on my makeup. I put on a denim skirt with a black cropped top. I added a pair of short platform black sandals and a pair of small hoops. I spent time on eyeshadow and added a few more coats of mascara. I finished with a swipe of lipgloss and headed downstairs.
As I was walking down the stairs, I saw my mom sitting at the kitchen island drinking her morning coffee and preparing a salad for lunch.
"Hey, honey. I made you a salad as well. I also added in those vegetable chips that you like in your bag."
"Thanks, mom. You saved me a few minutes this morning." I said
"It's not a problem. I've got to go. Nicholas wants me in early this morning to discuss a new partner to the firm. I will be home by 6 tonight so I'll be home before you leave for your film practice. " She said as she picked up her purse and kissed me on the cheek, "Okay. Bye. Love you."
"Love you, have a good day."
She smiled at me as she headed out into the garage.
"Was that mom?" Elliot asked as he came down the steps.
"Yeah, she had to go. She told me to tell you that she'll be home by 6." I said
"Okay. I've gotta go too. Basketball is having a meeting before school for Fall Ball." He said
"Oh, okay. I will see you at school sometime."
"Yep, see ya Nic." He said as he headed out.
As I was packing up my bag, there was a knock on the front door. I headed through the foyer and opened the door.
"Hello," I said as I saw Brady.
"Hey, Nicole. I was wondering if you were going to the coffee shop again today." He asked
"Yeah, I am. Come in." I replied
"Thanks. Would you mind if I joined? I could follow you to the shop since you have practice today."
"Yeah, I always enjoy your company. I don't have practice right after school so we can go together." I said
"Okay, I can drive today. You'll just have to direct me." He said
"No problem. Just let me grab my bags and we can head out." I said
He stayed by the front door while I shut off the lights in the living room and the kitchen and grabbed my backpack.
"Are you ready?" He asked
"Yep. We can head out of the garage since it's open anyway." I said as I locked up the front door.
"Okay. Lead the way." He said
We headed out of the garage and I closed it using the key fob on my key ring. We headed over to his house and into the garage.
"Ashley and my mom are still in there so we can just leave the garage open." He said
"Okay sounds good," I said as I climbed into his truck.
He played some of our favorite country music as we headed to OI Coffee.
Once we got our orders for Lawrence we said goodbye and headed back to Brady's truck.
"So, I have something I wanna ask you." Brady said
"Shoot." I said
"Well, I wanted to know if you wanted to go on an official date. Not like the time we hung out a few days ago, but something official." He asked
