Chapter 4 - Instinct

Jungkook all but cried, his wolf howling his discontent when he saw the omega running down the hall away from him. He was shocked beyond belief. Before arriving Joonie Hyung had told him to keep his distance from the omega considering he was a newly presented Alpha whose scent was therefore unmasked and unmated. However, when he laid eyes on the omega, he couldn't help but be taken aback, the boy was ethereal in his appearance. Petit yet tall with the most beautiful eyes Jungkook had ever seen. But it was the omega's smell that made Jungkook's wolf stand to such close attention. Fresher and sharper than most omegan scents. Like the smell of rain after a hot day, or the feeling of water running over your body, fresh, free and blissful. But having been warned by Namjoon, Jungkook knew that he was not in luck, as this beautiful omega was generally mistrustful of alphas. What Jungkook had not been prepared for, however, was the omega to almost instantly submit to him, and not only submit but present his neck for scenting. Jungkook used every form of self-control not to growl happily at the action more shocked out of his senses then ready to comply to the omega's wishes, which he would have gleefully done if it hadn't been for the sobs that he heard from the omega seconds after his display. Jungkook was about to reach out to comfort the young boy when he took off running down the hall into a room that smelled distinctly of his scent.

He turned to Namjoon lost and confused, guilt overflowing within him as his alpha cried out over hurting his omega...wait what? He mentally scolded himself. He's not your omega he shouted at his wolf. It was still so easy for him to lose control. He had to train himself.

"Hyung, I promise" he stuttered out, raw emotion colouring his tone "I didn't command him to submit, I don't know what happened, I'm so sorry" he felt on the verge of breaking point. He was fighting every instinct to not burst into the room Taehyung had fled to and beg on his knees for forgiveness. The other alphas were quick to reassure the distressed youngster.

"it's okay Kookie, I know you didn't command him." Namjoon began. "I didn't expect Tae to react like that" he turned to his mate then looking at the older omega in shock and confusion, he would never have thought Tae would have reacted in such as way. "Gin please go see if he's okay, you're the only one he will allow into his nest right now" Namjoon spoke with a pained expression. His mate nodded easily, running off but not before scenting the youngest alpha slightly, sending him a look of reassurance. The other omega's scent calmed his alpha somewhat.

However, it was only seconds after the elders retreat that Jungkook began to feel the build-up of his turmoil again. he had been on the edge of scenting the omega right there and then, he could basically hear his wolf purring for him, but Taehyungs sudden distance made it feel as if his wolf had been rejected. He knew It was stupid and that it wasn't true, but in his wolfs mind, his pride was damaged, not only that but he had upset an omega, something he swore, after his parent's relationship, he would never do. He felt his emotions swirl and throb. Tears streamed down his face uncontrollably.

"alpha what's happening to me," Jungkook said letting out sobs as the other alphas quickly walked up and stroked him softly.

"it's okay Kookie. I'm guessing your alpha had a strong reaction to Taehyung and his scent yes?" Namjoon asked as the younger just nodded confused. "that's okay Jungkook. Its simply your alpha telling you that Taehyung could be a compatible mate" Jungkook froze at that. He was still getting to grips with being an alpha let alone the idea of mates. "but...but?" he stuttered out.

"I know" Joon comforted him, "I didn't think you would react this way to each other considering your still so newly presented, and Tae is well..." Joon trailed off then as Jungkook let out another sob at his words. "Don't worry Dongsang, just take this one day at a time okay?" the alpha spoke softly before the younger boy calmed down somewhat, finally deciding to listen to Namjoon's guidance. After a few more moments Namjoon decided to turn his attention to everyone else, trying to defuse the tension around the room for Tae to come back to.
