Food

He led me through the long hallway. It seemed to me as this house had a long creepy endless hallway like in a giant hotel.

At the end of the hallway stood a set of double doors. We headed that way.

Pushing through the heavy doors, we entered the kitchen. Which was impressive. Long, rich marble counters stretched halfway around the large space. I looked around the huge kitchen, exploring the settings.

Rich dark wooden walls extend a shadowy effect.

"Sit here," He pointed to one of stools in front of the counter. I sat on one of the tall stool.

He removed his suit jacket and placed it over the counter and rolled up his sleeve at the elbow exposing his muscular arms before dragging his feet towards the fridge to get the ingredients needed to cooking.

"What do you feel like eating, Miss?" He asked without turning around to face me. He's desperately taking the things out of the refrigerator.

Why in the hell they had such arrangements?

There's a mass confusion held within me.

"Do you know how to cook?" Instead of answering his question, I asked.

Well, I didn't really need to answer his question. At this point I would eat anything he'd offer.

He smirked.

"Give me a five minutes," He said. I nodded as I leaned my elbow on the counter, resting my chin in my cupped hands.

His movements were in a lightening speed. I couldn't possibly track them with my naked eyes.

I shook my head, looking away from him.

Living with immortals were harder than I thought.

Their invisible powers scared the crap out of me.

I sighed, I didn't want to think about anything else. The amazing smell of meat drifted my way. I was starving and this food would be the gift from heaven. I patted my empty stomach hungrily as I looked over him.

He turned around and smiled at me.

I straightened and return the smile as my eyes were on the food he had in his hands.

I licked my lips watching the huge delicious grilled beefsteak and orange juice he had placed in front of me.

The smell coming from the food was amazing, and I felt my mouth filled with saliva.

I took a bite of the steak and my eyes rolled back into my head.

It was delicious.

I ate like I hadn't eaten in a week which in reality I pretty much hadn't. At least not like this.

After taking several bites of steak like a pirate, I drank the juice in a gulp.

I took a breath and smiled.

"That was delicious," I said, wiping my mouth with a napkin. "Thank you"

"It is always a pleasure serving you. I'm glad you enjoyed it," He said, a smile on his face.

"So vampires can eat human food?" I asked.

"Yes, we can. But we don't need human food to control our hunger. Sometimes it's nice to eat human food," He said.

They are blood drinkers. Only blood can quench their thirst.
The blood is the life for them.

How could I forgot their love for human blood?

"Where do you get blood?" Curious swirled through me.

"We have a ready supply of blood,"

I made an ahh sound.

I didn't want to know more. I might not be able to understand anything he'd say or wouldn't able to stay any longer if I knew something I didn't want to know.

I had to stay here until I'd find a way to get out of this mystical place.

"What were you doing in the woods? you were following me. Weren't you?" I asked, diverting the subject.

"Master ordered me to follow you. You shouldn't be there alone. It's dangerous,"

As if I was safe in this house full of blood-sucking vampires around. It's the same for me.

"Did he know I was escaping?"

His eyes were gentle as he nodded, but didn't utter a word after that.

"Why do you call him master?"

"He is the leader of our clan,"

His answers were short and robotic as if he's scared of slipping something objectionable out of his clumsy mouth.

"What, He's so young. I don't think he's capable of leading this huge clan," I scoffed.
I leaned back against the chair, crossed arms over my chest.

"You don't know, Miss. His power is impossibly high. There's absolutely nothing he can't do. He's infinite power over others and we are nothing compared to him,"

Well, I was impressed.

"So what exactly is a mate?" I blurted, unable to hide my curiosity.

"I'm not in the position of answering your questions,"

Hell, what?

Confusion filled me as I studied him. He kept his gaze focused on me, his hands rested on the counter. I turned my eyes away from his gaze. I couldn't stand under his powerful look.

Those grey eyes were tempting to me.

Why wouldn't he answer a mere question like that?

Didn't I have the right to know?

"I really can't explain everything to you. It honestly is not my place. But you will find out soon enough," he said clearly having sensed my gloom.

A low knock at the door interrupted the thick tension around us . A thin girl with long black hair and light blue eyes stood in the doorway.

She bowed her head at us with a smile.

"Pardon my interruption," She smiled her warm, friendly smile.

"What is it, Jaera," He asked. His voice sounded oddly harsh.

"Master wants to see Miss Aeri. He's waiting for her in his study," She said graciously, her smile never leaving on her beautiful face. She appeared friendly and kind unlike other girls I had encountered.

He wants to see me?
Has he done flirting with that stupid bitch?

"Please hurry, Miss," The girl said desperately. She looked as if she'd get punished if she didn't do as she told.

I don't have any other choice but go with her.

"Uh, well, Thank you so much for all you have done for me," I turned to face the guy.

He smiled and bowed in return.
