Hey fam. This is a 70s band au, no magic. Sorry, lol. It's 1977, and punk is on the rise.
"Lily, did I really have to come to this. I mean, I like James and all but his music is...not my style."
"They do covers..."
Remus sighed and ran his hand through his sandy waves.
"Yeah but, grunge? Punk? Whatever they are, I don't think I'll like it."Lily just grabbed Remus' hand and pulled him inside the semi-decent bar where James' band were playing. Janis Joplin was playing over the Jukebox, Piece of my Heart. Remus liked Janis' voice. It was raspy and soothing, very different. They sat at a small table in the centre of the room and sat facing the small stage with a drum kit almost half the size of the stage and lots of speakers and wires. The two seventeen year olds were only allowed in because James told the pub about them and how they won't drink. They did anyway.
Remus looked around the pub, the decorations old and nice instead of that shitty modern design. It was 1977 but everyone decided they wanted to live in the eighties already. He shook his head before taking a sip of the coke Lily had apparently ordered him and looking at the stage as the lights dimmed.
Three guys walked onto the stage, one grabbing bass, one an electric guitar and one sat behind the drums.
"Ooh! That's my James!"
Lily giggled, pointing at the drums.Remus rested his hand on his cheek as the band began to play the beginning of the Ramones Blitzkrieg Bop. He wasn't a huge fan of their music but he did happen to enjoy this one song, though he was wondering where the singer was.
And then the singer came out.
The man had raven coloured hair that fell to his collarbones in almost waves, he wore black skinny jeans, high tops and a white rolling stones muscle tee that showed his lean arms. He held a fender, a 60s stratocaster, that was off white and worn but that just fueled the aesthetic. In the red and blue lighting his features were highlighted and sharpened, his angled cheekbones and pouted lips, his wide and wonderful eyes coloured blue and red and his skin tinted violet.
He jogged over to the microphone, playing his guitar with skill that Remus had never seen live before. His fingers danced across the strings and frets, and it was blatantly obvious who carried the band. Well, him and James anyway. The basist only used the top string with the occasional jump to the third and the second guitarist played only basic chords.
The singer's voice didn't suit the Ramones, his voice too smooth and soft and wholesome, though he tried and it ended up sounding like a beautiful and softer rendition of the original, despite the instruments. Remus couldn't help but think that the singer didn't belong there. He belonged in Remus' apartment in downtown London, playing Remus' 1967 acoustic Fender and singing the Beatles or something less angsty because fuck, his voice was a poet's dream.
The singer looked up from where he was singing down into his microphone, his raven waves slicked back and strands falling endlessly over his violet features. Remus was entranced by the angelic voice leaving the sinfully delicate lips, as well as the devilish looks and demeanour of the singer.
He tapped Lily's shoulder dazedly, staring at the singer who was staring back at him with a charming grin.
"Lils, who's that?"Lily glanced at Remus and then at the guy his finger was aimed at before she grinned cheekily.
"Oh, that beautiful piece of gay is Sirius Black, James' best friend."Remus nudged her side playfully and then continued to gawk over the singer.
His name suited him perfectly. Sirius is a bright, beautiful star painted on the Black sky and this boy seemed like he could light up a room or a city or an entire fucking planet. Remus took a sip of his drink and stared at Sirius' eyes that flashed red, blue and violet.
When they finished the song, Sirius took a deep breath and spoke into the mic, his voice loud over the noise of the crowd.
"How are you all doing tonight?"
A screaming response.
"We are Obscurus. Enjoy your night and we'll play you some music, you beautiful people."Remus blushed scarlet when Sirius winked at him and he took another long sip of his drink. The entire time they were performing, Sirius only drew his eyes from Remus' when playing difficult riffs or singing straining melodies and then they returned, like they were a soldier and Remus' eyes were home.

"James, that was fantastic!"
Lily jumped on James and kissed him as he laughed and picked her up, placing her on the bar top and standing between her legs.
"I should get you home. You have school tomorrow."
Lily nodded and was about to tell Remus when she saw Sirius walking over to the oblivious man. She looked at James and grinned. James looked to the two boys and rolled his eyes.
"Ugh, Sirius wouldn't shut up about 'Lily's hot friend. So mysterious and gorgeous...'. Peter almost fainted when Sirius became quite...vulgar."
Lily grinned.
"They were staring at each other the whole time. It was the most adorable thing I've ever seen. I bet their together in the next...two months.""I bet next week."
Lily raised an eyebrow and James shrugged, playing with her fiery locks that fell to her hips and looking into her emerald eyes. He put his glasses back on and smiled at her.
"Sirius is very...fast paced. He doesn't shy away from a challenge, so it won't take long."Lily shrugged and left, James already having told Sirius he's taking Lily home so that Sirius could inform 'his new boy toy' on Lily's behalf.
Sirius walked over to Remus with a cheeky grin and beautiful grey eyes. Remus thought he was even more beautiful up close, like an artwork that becomes more intricate upon closer inspection.
"Evening."
"Hi."
"I'm Sirius Black."
"Remus Lupin."
Sirius stared at Remus for a moment without speaking at all, and instead of feeling awkward, Remus thought this felt familiar. Wordless staring as Sirius' beauty filled the void and the not-so-inner poet in Remus came out, describing the enigma of a man in the most beautiful of ways only for them to not say a word.
And then Sirius did.
"I...I'm sorry if this is...forward, but you have such beautiful eyes. They're like pools of whiskey. Or molten gold. I can't quite decide."
Remus blushed like a school girl.

13 months and three days later, the first thought that Remus had of Sirius became a reality.
Remus sat on his couch in his apartment in downtown London, playing with Sirius' hair as he sat on the floor, playing Remus' 1967 acoustic Fender and singing Beatles songs on a loop.
Sirius called them a guilty pleasure. Remus called them masterpieces.
And Lily won the bet because she was Lily.
*****Can you believe this took me like, two days to write?
Probably not 'cause it's really shitty, but it did.
Fuck.
My favourite part of this is,
"...like they were a soldier and Remus' eyes were home."That fucks me up.
