The Game is Back

Deadhill High

Isabelle's P.O.V

Dead hill High was just that, dead. It had only two classrooms and one was empty, there was a staff building/library and a toilet block but that was it. the high school itself was about an hour from the nearest town, Endinburg. we had caught the bus from Endinburg and had made the long journey to the school which was situated on a dirt road almost hidden from the highway and there was no other buildings along the road except for the old run down church. The church was abandoned and pretty run down it was a couple of kilometres away from the school in the middle of the bush almost impossible to get to. it was in the middle of a graveyard with graves dating back to the 1500's, the majority of the graves were children. all of us stood huddle together looking like lost sheep, from going from a school with almost 1000 kids to a school with only 30 including us we felt alone, everyone here was so close knit that we were like outcasts. They didn't have a principal only the one teacher called Ms. Tetree, she was young maybe in her late 20's early 30's with long brown hair and honey coloured eyes.

"Say hello to our new students" she said sweetly yet how she said it sounded evil.

"Hello" chorused the class

"Uhh hi" it was Jackson who spoke first.

The rest of us smiled a little nervously at the kids who seemed to be in year 8-12.

"Please choose a seat" sniggered Ms. Tetree.

Well it sounded like a snigger but secretly I hoped that she just had a funny laugh. I chose a seat at the back, next to a girl with piercing blue eyes and short black hair cut into a bob. she glared at me with hatred in her eyes.

"Witch" she hissed just loud enough for me to hear.

Well ok I thought this was just great I've only just got here and already I seem to be feared or hated I wasn't exactly sure which though. Ekkia sat down next to me and Isabella, Julia and Sophie sat a couple seats away. I watched as Jackson, Ryan and Fletcher take a seat up front.

"Now everybody quiet down" Ms. Tetree ordered and immediately the room went silent. "Its time to continue our bible study"

I furrowed my brows in confusion. bible study? what was she on about? I looked around at everyone else only people from our school looked confused the people from Deadhill High acted as if this was completely normal. Tentatively I raised my hand.

"Ah excuse me miss" I managed to stutter out and instantly regretted it as all eyes turned on me.

"Yes" Ms. Tetree said

"Well I don't really you know have a religion" I mumbled

"What!" Ms. Tetree shouted "are you a sinner? only the sinful don't have a religion"

"Uh I was joking" I managed to splutter out knowing full well that I wasn't.

"Well keep your stupid jokes to yourself" she hissed and then went back to reading the bible. my friends all shot each other alarming looks. what the hell was going on?
