"Little more to the left there Ruby!" Hunter said from the back of the black box theatre. Ruby stood on a silver and red ladder adjusting the stage lights. She wore heat resistant gloves as she moved the black stage light to the left. "Perfect, okay Ruby that's the last one you can come down now." Ruby let go of the stage light and grabbed onto the sides of the ladder and started to step down gently. She took off the big thick gloves and walked over to the tech booth where Hunter sat, the blue light shining down on her. Ruby's eyes glittered as she stepped into the blue light."So is that it for the lights? I hope because even with these gloves those things are hot!" Ruby said chuckling
"Yeah, that should be it" Hunter chuckled. Hunter then started messing with different light levels and then writing them down in her book.
"So I see you and Sonah have resolved things." Ruby said breaking the silence.
"Yeah, we talked it out and cleared things up."
"That's good, having a sister is a great thing."
"Do you have a sister Ruby?" Hunter asked leaning back in her chair looking at Ruby and giving her, her full attention.
" No, I don't really know who my parents are. My parents died in a car accident when I was 3 and I've being living with my grandparents since." Ruby explained thinking back to the whole experience of her childhood.
"Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry I didn't know." Hunter apologized sympathetically.
"It's alright, I didn't expect you to know. I don't mind talking about. Not a lot of people talk to me, so I don't usually go back into my past and honestly it felt kind of nice talking to someone else about it." Ruby blushed and smiled looking at Hunter.
"Well you can always talk to me, I'm a great listener." Hunter smiled back. Sam creeped into the black box, not knowing what Hunter and Ruby were doing. She saw how happy Ruby looked at Hunter and started to realize something but she wanted to talk to Ruby alone first.
" Hey Hunter! Jason wants you to go watch some of the rehearsals and he wants to hear your opinion." Sam wasn't exactly lying about that but Jason did say when Hunter had time.
"Coming Sam! Finish the conversation later Ruby?" Hunter asked joyfully
"Yeah sure!" Ruby pushed her hair back behind her ear and watched Hunter climb down the black box theatre steps and go through the backstage door. Sam stayed while Hunter went to the other room. Sam walked up to the tech booth while Ruby read over some of Hunter's notes and began messing with lights. "Hey Sam, shouldn't you be rehearsing?" Ruby asked glancing back and forth between the light board and the stage.
"Yeah but I just want to ask you one thing, you don't have to answer me if you don't want to." Sam said nervously.
"What is this about Sam?" Ruby asked confused.
"Do you like my sister?" Ruby chuckled surprisingly.
"What makes you think that?" Ruby asked searching around Sam's face for an expression.
"I don't know, the way you just looked at her when she was leaving, the way you moved your hair. It just looks like you might have a small crush on her. I won't tell anyone your answer, but I want to know."
"I do." Ruby confessed. "But I don't think Hunter likes me, or for a matter of fact, likes girls that way."
"She does, well like girls that way, me and Sonah just found out a couple weeks ago."
"Really?" Ruby's face lit up just then, and she became overjoyed.
"But she likes another girl, me and Sonah don't like her. Trust me I would rather her be with you." Ruby's overjoyed reaction turn to sadness. "I'm sorry for getting your hopes up Ruby."
"No it's okay, I'm glad you told me. Who knows maybe I'll change her mind."
"You go for it Ruby." Sam said encouragingly.
"Sam! Jason wants you, he says you need to practice your scene."
"Coming! Go for it Ruby." Ruby smiled as Sam ran off into the other room to rehearse.
"Now where were we?" Hunter questioned as she looked at her script. "Right! So for this scene, I think we should do this for the lighting." Hunter started to change the lights that shined on the stage. Ruby smiled and nodded, looking deep into Hunter's eye affectionally.
