Chapter 3: Cheating

The sun beat down on the floor of the high school quad, there was not a soul in sight one could say a pin could drop and be heard for miles until a loud digital bell rang through the empty halls. The halls became full of students all rushing to the lunch line. Hunter and Torey walked out of their class and began to walk to the nearest open table where they sat waiting for the rest of the gang to arrive. A hand suddenly touched Hunter's shoulder, Hunter turned around quickly surprised to see her boyfriend Alex standing there.

"What do you want Alex? I hang out with my sister's today you know that." Hunter asked him annoyed with his presence.

"Hunter can I please talk to you... alone." Hunter got up from the table and followed Alex to a nearby shady tree. Torey moved from her pervious seat to another so she could see Hunter better.

"Okay, now we're alone what do you want?" Hunter asked annoyed.

"What the hell has been going on with you lately. You've been hanging out with your sisters more often then normal, and you've been with that new girl ever since school started, what are we? I can't tell anymore are we together? are we not? what is it? Tell me please, I'm so confused."

"Ever since we started high school, I've grown up while you haven't. We never do what normal couples do, you never want to hold hands, or kiss and I'm sorry Alex but I want a boyfriend who will be my boyfriend not my guy friend." Hunter told Alex

"Can we maybe go out and talk about this?" Alex asked concerningly.

"Sure, Caroline's at 6:00 Saturday. Don't be late." Hunter demanded

"Alright, Caroline's at 6:00. I'll be there." Alex and Hunter separated. Hunter returning to the table to find her sisters, Sam and Sonah, waiting for her.

"What was that all about?" Torey asked.

"He wanted to talk, so we're going to Caroline's at 6:00 on Saturday."

"Wait Caroline's?" Sam asked surprised.

"Yeah"

"Wait I'm missing something, what's Caroline's?" Torey asked confused.

"Caroline's is the restaurant where you go to break up with someone. The food is cheap and an empty restaurant." Sonah explained. "So you're going to break up with Alex?"

"I don't know yet."

"Well I need to pee, I'm going to the bathroom, I'll be right back." Sam said as she started getting up. The girls nodded. Sam began to walk towards the restroom, as she started going in, then she heard Alex talking.

"Don't worry, I'm going to talk to her on Saturday."

"But I can't wait anymore Alex, I can only keep this hidden for so long" A strange voices said. Sam peeked around the door seeing Alex holding another girl's hands. "Why can't you just break up with her already?"

"I have to do it right, she has issues with her anger and it could end very bad if I don't do it right. If she found out about us, we both be toast."

"What if one of her posse finds out about us?"

"They won't, don't worry Amber." He then grabs her chin and kisses her. Sam immediately turned around the door and begin to freak out. She then began to sneak away and run to the table. Arriving with just Sonah at the table, out of breath.

"What's up with you? Did someone stink up the girls bathroom again?" Sam shook her head as she was catching her breath.

"I just saw Alex."

"Okay? And what's the problem?" Sonah asked confused

"He was with another girl, holding her hands and he kissed her."

"Wait what?!" Sam nodded. "Who was he with?"

"Some girl named Amber."

"The new girl, she came the same time Torey did. We can't tell Hunter, not right now, this isn't the place. I'll ask Torey if she'll not come home with us today."

"Okay. She's going to be so mad and upset."

"Who will?" Hunter asked coming up on the girls.

"Ummm Jason, I didn't memorize my monologue, you know how he gets when people don't memorize their lines."

"Oh my gosh yes, you better start memorizing." Sam sat more comfortably in her seat and began to eat her packed lunch looking concerned.

"Sam you okay?" Torey asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine." the girls continued to eat their lunch. A strange silence was struck with in the table as all the girls were eating their lunches
