Jackson and I talked at lunch that we were gonna meet at the school gates and hang out for a bit,
As I was going to the school gates, I saw Jackson, leaning on a wall, earphones plugged in his ear,
"Hey Jackson!" I called and he heard, "Sorry for making you wait, the teacher didn't let us exit the classroom until we were done with our seatwork."
"Nah it's fine. Plus, I just went out of school myself." He replied,
"Oh, alright then." I said, "Anyways, where do you want to hang out?"
"Hm..." Jackson hummed as he was thinking of where we could possibly go, "How about the park?"
"Park it is then! Let's go!" I said and we both started walking our way to the park.
***
We arrived at the park and boy was the walk there awkward,
I don't know if it was just me, but I felt the awkward tense between me and Jackson on our way here. He would mostly be the one starting the conversation, mostly just questions, and I would answer them. Then boom, silence once again. I'm just glad it's over.
But oh my goodness, what if we strolled around the park and the both of us are still awkward.
Sigh.... That would be torture for me, I can't STAND awkward moments. I swear I feel like i'm not gonna be a good friend due to my awkwardness. Like, everything I do is awkward for me. When going to order at McDonalds, asking how much this product is, asking the teacher if I don't get the lesson. Just, everything is awkward for me.
No wonder I haven't achieved anything yet...
But that's beside the point, i'm being way too negative right now.
I'm gonna atleast try to not be awkward for once, ahem, TRY.
"S-So, what do you want to do first?" I asked,
"Maybe just a small stroll, then sit down somewhere?"
"Okay!"
We started taking a small walk around the park until one thing caught my eye,
An Ice Cream truck.
I tapped Jackson's shoulder and he responded with a hum,
"Do you wanna get some ice cream?" I asked, pointing at the truck.
"Yeah sure!"
He said as we both walked to the ice cream truck,
"What would you like?" Jackson asked,
"I'll have just Vanilla."
"Alright." Jackson said, "One Vanilla and one chocolate, please."
The ice cream vendor nodded and went to the ice cream machine, making the two deserts.
I was about to pull out my wallet until Jackson blocked a hand infront of me,
"Don't worry, i'll pay for it." Jackson said, making me blush,
"N-No it's f-fine. I'll pay-"
"Too late." He cut me off and then gave the money to the ice cream vendor, the vendor gave our ice cream and we both said thank you then left.
"I remember not too long ago, I was ripping the wrapper of the ice cream, ya know, those ice creams in convenience stores and stuff. I kept ripping the wrapper until the wrapper reached the point of the cone, then.... The ice cream fell..." Jackson said, making me giggle,
"Awe, I feel bad." I said, "A-Anyways, thank you. You didn't had to pay for mine though..."
"Nah it's fine, I don't mind." He replied, continuing to eat his ice cream,
"How about we sit on a bench and talk about stuff?" Jackson suggested, and I simply nodded,
We sat down and talked about each other's days and then random stuff.
We both kept laughing, having a frivolous conversation. We talked like we have known each other for years, and honestly, I kinda liked it.
I have never felt this happy in so long, and I thank Jackson for making it possible for me again to smile. The smile that isn't fake, the smile that involves real feelings.
