"D-date?" I stammered. This was so unexpected. I never thought Clark Kent would ask me out on a date. Especially when we're partners and we should keep it professional. 

I was a plain girl with struggles. I'm nobody, so what did he see in me? I wondered. 

Clark kept pushing up his glasses. It's a habit he had when he was nervous. Was he serious? 

Without thinking, I laughed. I'm a idiot. I couldn't help it. I laugh when I'm nervous. He stared at me, hurt on his face. 

"Why are you laughing?" 

"W-Well, you're joking r-right?" I giggled nervously, tugging on my hem of blouse. 

"No, I-I wa-w-wasn't joking." He stumbled over the words. 

"Oh." It was all I said. I didn't know what to say. I desperately wanted to say yes, I really really like him. He's a good guy, but I don't date. It's the rule, no falling in love. And Clark Kent is a easy man to fall in. He's a natural to make girls fall for him. I could tell. 

But could I try? For just once? Why not? I never went on a date. Just for fun. What possibly go wrong?

Well, what possibly go wrong? You fall in love with him, then he leaves you. You get heartbroken. 

I mentally shook my head. I really need to work on self motivation. 

"Okay, I'll go out on a date with you." I smiled.

"Really?" Clark's eyes widened. "I thought you was going to say no. I-"

I laughed. "Why did you asked me if you thought I would say no?"

He shrugged. "Better sorry than safe." 

"I've heard of that one before." I nodded. He smiled brightly, "I'll pick you up at 7:00 p.m. tonight." 

"Tonight?" I said in a surprise. I didn't realize it would be this soon. 

"I have no patient." He shrugged. I raised my eyebrows. "I disagree. You're the man of patient." 

"No man can resist a beautiful woman like you for long time, Ashlynn Marie Brooks." 

It felt like my heart leaped out of my chest as he said my full name. The way he said my name, it's perfect. 

"Well, who knows that the famous Clark Kent could be a shameless flirt." I raised my eyebrows. He chuckled. 

"Everyone have secrets." He shrugged.

"Well, I definitely have some secrets. What about you?"

"Lots of them. Deep, deep and darkest secrets." He smiled as if there was inside joke behind them.
