The bell for school rings. At that moment, my heart skips a beat and everyone springs out of they're seats. Summer. The time of no school, no homework, swimming, and vacation. I however have never done anything big. But, Papa is taking me on vacation to California. We are gonna stay at our old beach house. I can picture all of us by the beach swimming. But, mommy wouldn't be there. I don't want to think of her.
"Forget! forget her!" I scream.
We arrive at the beach house, and I hug my doll tightly, and wheel my suitcase into the house. Papa gives me a tour and then shows me my room. I set up my bed and then Papa walks in.
"Oh, yeah. I got you this."
He hands me a little doll bed. How nice. He really cares about me. He loves me like a Father would. He didn't leave because he hated me. For the first time I feel like I really have a dad.
And I feel like this is my first real summer.
